Thread: HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! I DON`T UNDERSTAND THIS CRAFTING THING
Welcome to what is probably one of the most complex professions in the game. ![]()
You should probably never take medic as your starting profession. But having said that, go get Novice Artisan or Novice Scout. That way as an artisan you can survey for Organic and Inorganic resources. Organics are thngs you find with a Flora Survey tool, such as whet, rice, oats, etc. Inorganics are from teh other tools, like Petrochemicals, Metals, Watera and so on.
As a Scout you can harvest your animal kills for organics, such as Hide, Bone and Meat. Generally only use Meat in your meds. Sell teh Hid and Bone to Artisans and Armorsmiths to get your Inorganic resources from them or from the Bazaar.
Good luck!
Zarlor, I THANK YOU SO MUCH for replying.
Now, I have to waht, just find an Artisan or scout trainer and train into novice? And do I automatcally get a survey device? or do I have to make them. SOrry for all the questions I just know this profession will be in need later and I dont want to give up on it.
Get novice artisan from a npc trainer. Then you have to ask a player artisan to make some survey tools for you. Get flora and mineral or flora and chemical, or any combo that lets you find org and inorg resources. The player aristan can help you choose. That way you can get everything you need to start crafting. Oh, you might need to get a general crafting tool also if you don't have one. If you get scout skills, you will only be able to get organics and so you will still need artisan (though scout is good for other reasons).
Thank so much Winin.
I will attempt to do this when I get on in a minute.
They were both good, however, I'm an artisan and here is what you do. ![]()
You need these tools to make medications, quick and non-painful.
1) General Crafting Tool
2) Mineral or Chemical Survey Device (Either one will work).
3) Flora Survey Device
Now, since you'll need surveying skills, best bet is to go get them. type /find.
A new menu will appear, and look for trainer: Artisan.
Find him in town and train. This will cost 100 credits.
Now... open your inventory, use your mineral (or chemical) survey tool. Set the range and use it again. Now a box will appear with items on the right side. Anything in white is something you can sample, a mineral or chemical. Pick a white one and click survey. Wait a few seconds and you'll see numbers on the map and a waypoint. you want to find somethig closes to 100% as possible. Keep going down the white words on the list until you find something neat 100 and then actually run your character in the direction of the highest deposit and survey for the same thing.
Now that you've found "Aluminum" at 94%, click get sample.
your character will start gathering pieces and fragments of Aluminum.
Once you have a good bit, which shouldn't take long, do the same thing for flora. I reccommend something like a fruit, or food stuff.
Upon getting those, now open your General Crafting Tool. Click on ( I Think it's chemicals ) and you should see some medications and stimpacks. Click on one, click on next and drag the resources into their respective slots. The help button helps alot here if you can't figure it out.
Continue clicking next and following directions until you have your new item in inventory.
There ya go, you are now a novice medic with artisan skills crafting your own medications.
Easy as Pie.
Or.....
Contact Klordy on StarSider. He is an Artisan, wanting to be a merchant. He sells everything for 1 credit. :-)
I sell on the mass.

Klordy, I want to thank you for writing the best, easiest to understand directions I have ever read. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to craft (the game is quite overwhelming at first) medicines for my medic, until now. I will most definitely contact you on starsider and I'll buy you a Jawa Juice.
Novice Medic
Epi ' Nephrine
Thanks Klordy
You will all be happy to know that I have the novice artisan skill AND surveying 1 which gives more of a chance to sample more samples. I`m going crazy now, sampling for hours on end making MAAAAD stimpacks. Now, Another question. Obviously, stimpack-A aren`t the best stimpacks, right? Now, in order to get the schematics for a better Stimpack, do I have to buy the schematic? Or will it come in my datapad when I put skill points into like Organic something (I have the points to train in it, just not the credits)
Again, thank you for everyone who helped me through the crafting. I now see the beauty of this game, players are creating the entire economy, with their own items. THIS ROCKS!!!! Now, if they could only learn how to keep the servers up for like 12 hours straight.
Sorry, it's not that easy.
You can't buy schematics... at least I don't know. If I'm wrong, someone will let me know.
The way you get better items to craft is to go up a level.
Now since you are a novice medic crafting just stimpacks that heal Action Damage, you'll just need to keep on doing that until you gain enough experience to move up to the next... Pharmacology level...
Do this:
Open your Skill tree for Medic. The tree all the way to the right is the medic crafting branch. As you move up that branch you can see the different items you can craft when obtaining that rank. So, until you train in the next Medic Crafting (Pharmacology I think) you can only create stimpacks.
Next will be Health kits and Action kits, but check into it.
I believe you get around 40 exp. for every stimpack you make at novice medic, and you need 500 exp to adv to the next level... so, you'll need to make a few of them to get to the next level.
Remember, move resources you put into a crafting item, the more experience you get out.
hope this helps,
Klordy
