Thread: Medics --- Heal People as a group!
Naufragus -- Think about this for a minute.
You are the fourth person in line. The medics are "gang healing" in front of you. Now wouldn't it take as long for you to get out of the med center with you waiting your turn, or someone healing you little by little over the same amount of time. I've tried it both ways, and the time differential is insignificant. I would reccommend that you come in when you have smaller black bars during the first few weeks of beta, until we get some higher level medics. Even medics with experimented "B paks" will get people out of there a whole lot faster.
BTW ---- from another thread I thought you weren't going to come into the med center anymore? You were going to run around with 3% health. I guess that didn't wrok so great.
You seem to have a great deal of hatred for the medic profession, from your past threads. I'm wondering if maybe you should take up medic and heal yourself instead of getting all aggravated at the med center? It's just a suggestion --- my 2 credits worth.
Gang healing will not get people out of the med center faster. People will still heal at the same rates as if they where going after different people. The only difference would be if you where at the back of the line it would take a long while till anyone gave you any attention. Then you would just complain about that instead.
Well, I am a medic in Kandaara, Naboo on Kettemor server and we usually have about three of us in the hospital at a time (usually the same three...we know each other well now). We use a modified triage method where we do try to work on a single 'severe' patient together...but when new patients arrive, we assess who we can heal the fastest and get them back out the door.
If 'Bobacca' has black rot so bad he can hardly walk, and Jasck the Bounty Hunter walks in with black rot just as bad...we keep working all on Bobacca, as together we can get him back on the field faster. If Kiki comes in behind them and has only a quarter of her helath bar rotted away, we will all switch to Kiki and get her healed in minutes and back on the road...then right back to Bobacca...and so on until we clear out all the patients.
Is this really any faster than any other way...probably not...but we feel it gets more people out of the hospital faster than a first come first serve method and also gives us the feeling we are accomplishing more.
just how we have been doing it...
Mekova the Medic on Naboo
As a medic by defaultI heal the people withsmaller wounds first. It helps keep the med center uncluttered if I can get a person to leave every minute or two, rather than heal the guy with thousands of points of wound damage and make the next 5 poeple wait..
Now let me give some advice to all you non-medics out there: Don't come in to the Med Center with Fatigue. It just makes the healing less effective, and consequently wastes our meds and time. I don't heal anyone if I see they have a mind pool wound, since it means they haven't been to a cantina yet.
You guys may not like how the med centers are run, but with little/no tips, resources, and people coming in with hundreds of Fatigue, you aren;t making our lives any easier.

I don't get it... If you get no tips, no resources, huge effort and lots of difficulty, why do you do it? For the XP?
I agree with Ray,
As opposed to a real clinic, I assist those with fewer wounds first. There is nothing worse than a crowded clinic with 20 people yelling MEDIC!!
I "sorta" run the clinic that I work at and we all do the same thing. Now, if we get the numbers down and there are 2 or even 1 people sitting with massive wounds, we do team up.
None of us have a problem with sharing tips, and often I defer the tips for a group healing (I am the highest regular medic in the clinic) so that they can catch up to me....
Also, you do not share XP except for the fact you would be able to heal for longer....
Since opening day, we have just tried to get people in and out as fast as possible. As your medics get better and are tipped well enough to be able to afford better medicines, you will see your wait times go down drastically. With wound packs-b, I can get the same patient out in 1/3 the time as someone who is using wound pack -a. Give us a couple more weeks and you will be in and out in no time... Er, if we get more medics. 2 medics on a shift is hell.
Actually thinking about it, gang healing might be more effective. Since the people inthe "back of the line" would be getting more auto healing from being in the med center, ti might reduce the # of wounds. This is good and bad since less wounds mean less XP for the medic. But could mean less downtime for hurt people.
I as rule usually heal the people with small wounds first to get them out of the center and get xp before the auto healing heals all the wounds. Then go back to working on my 'ICU' patients. Another reason isI always have an endless supply of A packs to heal the minor wounds. ICU guys need B packs to really be effective...
But, heck let the medics heal how they please. Just be glad that there are people healing you at all.
A downside to group healing:
4 people are healing the same patient, you see they still have for example 50 health wounds, the messages come up saying you are ready to heal more wounds, you hit the button for a health B just as someone else does the same thing, they heal 48 wounds and your medpack heals 2, a waste of a good B charge.
In Bestine/Starsider we often try to keep track of the order people come in on, people with B work on seriously wounded, people with A work on people with <50 wounds.
That said, I also keep a list of good tippers and/or interesting/nice/quiet and give them preferential treatment when they come back in, and people who shout "MEDIC!, HEAL ME NOW PLEASE" as soon as they arrive and see 10 other people waiting go to the back of the queue.
I am wondering why the hospiatsls are full of 1 patient sitting in front of 1 medic for 20 minutes after the long wait to get healed...
It seems to me that if you organized (!) things would go alot smoother and faster...
if there are 4 of you working the med center then you should all heal the same person at the same time.
Half of you do health the other half action...
People would be in and out in no time...instead of sitting there forever...
i can only thing of 2 reasons why this isnt already happening... many of you just dont want to share your XP and your fees
i can think if a third reason, lack of medics.
In my town of mos enthna (or something like that) im usually the only medic in the entire hospital, with like 20 people with major wounds. really sucks =)
Yet again, I wonder why you don't just get Novice Medic and /tendwound yourself if you hate the way we do things. You didn't like it so much when we 'organized' in beta, did you? What 'fees' are there to share if you never tip us?
