Thread: Diagnostics & UXP They do NOT work
Hi all,
Im a Doctor & Engineer, and as such i make alot of products which i was giving away quite frequently,
ranging from Harvesters down to weapon powerups.. free of charge just to get my so called UXP up.
(term used in beta alot and stands for exp that you gain when someone else uses something you made).
Well anyhow.. I gained no exp for the past two days of products being used.. not a single point.
A friend and I did a test.. I made a B stat pack, and had him heal my Health stat wounds..
I didn't get any exp even after logging.. so i made a weapon and a weapon powerup (grip), and gave that
to him, we went out shooting creatures.. he used up the powerup and i gave him a few more.
I didn't get any crafting exp or anyother kind of exp ecept my normal combine exp which i watched closely.
SO.. i thought.. what else doesn't work.. I looked at the medical skills.. I always had assumed that
Diagnostics works even tho I always have to wait 25 seconds to re-apply a med pack B or C.
I have Diagnostics IV and it was 25 secs at novice medic and it's still 25 seconds at Novice Doc..
/tendwound & tenddamage was 4 seconds at novice medic and it's still 4 seconds at Novice Doc...
Is this how it is for the rest of you.. check and do the math.. make stuff.. see if you get exp .. watch it closely and tabulate the xp.. make sure it's not your regular combat xp and your getting extra from someplace.
Tiff
Diagnostic speeds up stim healing not wound healing. You have to get to doctor to get wound healing sped up.
As a tailor I've gotten a ton of UXP so far. Same thing with selling bone armor. I get UXP for that also. For harvesters you would get structure UXP. Meds could be broken. I could have sworn I got UXP at the end of beta while handing out meds though.
Flavorwise, a Medic is someone who does quick healing in the field (i.e. damage healing -- think about paramedics). A Doctor is someone who does long-term healing (i.e. wound healing). Wounds represent overall damage to the body that requires more intensive care and more advanced facilities. No, it doesn't translate directly to the Medic/Doctor professions, but it makes some sense.
Medical crafting UXP does work -- at least, it did for me. It may be that in order for you to get UXP from it, the item has to be used by someone else healing someone else entirely. I know that I tested it by giving a friend a stimpack A. She used it to heal another player, and the instant the last charge went off, I got another 15 Medicine Crafting exp. I haven't tested it in the case of someone else using my pack to heal *me* instead, but I can imagine that wouldn't give you UXP (for the obvious reason that it would only take two medics, trading all their equipment and healing each other, to get mad UXP... you'd need at least three medics, each of you trading to the guy on your left and then that guy heals the guy on his left, which is a bit more work to set up).
