Well the Medic FAQ was somewhat of a failure yesterday since it got pushed off the front page pretty quickly and alot of the questions it answered got asked again. Anyone have a solution for this? Also, does anyone know if you can post links on these boards?

In this version I've added some questions and expanded some answers.

The Medic FAQ v0.2

Q: How do I heal people?

A: Read Tale's Medic Guide:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=medic&message.id=206
for a detailed tutorial on how to be a medic. I also recommend the section of the SWG manual on Healing and Death:
http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/manual_detail.jsp?chapter=8

Q: I'm healing all this damage, but I'm not getting any XP! What gives?

A: You are probably using the /tenddamage command. This command is intended for emergencies and doesn't grant any experience. The /tendwound command does grant XP, otherwise you will have to craft or buy stimpacks and medpacks and use them on other players to get XP.

Q: I opened my crafting tool to make some stimpacks but it says I need "organics" and "inorganics", where do I get these?

A: There are several ways for medics to obtain resources for crafting. The first is the /medicalforage command. This will use up some of your action pool and extract a random organic resource. Unfortunately, this isn't very useful as you'll need 8 organics of the same type to craft a Stimpack A. Your next option is to try to buy resources off the bazaar or from another player. Failing this you can train in the Artisan profession and survey for your own resources. If you didn't start as an Artisan you will need to buy at least a Mineral Survey Tool off the bazaar or from another player. Ounce you survey for some metal you can craft Flora and Chemical survey tools and use them to gather the resources you need. Finally, you can also obtain organics by training in the Scout profession and extracting resources from dead creatures.

Q: I trained in Organic Chemistry II, which says it grants Stimpack B, but when I open my General Crafting Tool I don't see Stimpack B.

A: You need to obtain a Food and Chemical Crafting Tool by crafting one or buying one from the bazaar or from another player. Use this tool to craft more complex items like Stimpack B's.

Q: Ok, now I have Organic Chemistry IV but I don't see Stimpack C in my Food and Chemical Crafting Tool.

A: For Stimpack C you'll have to use a public Food and Chemical Crafting Station. You can find these at various locations in cities, often in front of the starport. Stand near one of these and use your Food and Chemical Crafting Tool to make Stimpack C's and other advanced medicines.

Q: How do I experiment on my medicines?

A: Experimentation is another thing that only happens at public Food and Chemical Crafting Stations. Stand near one of these and use your Food and Chemical Crafting Tool, when you assemble your item you will see a menu with three options: Create Prototype, Create Manufacturing Schematic, and Experimentation. Click experimentation and distribute your experimentation points among the stats you want to increase. Experimentation can greatly enhance the effectiveness of your medicines.

Q: I have a schematic for something called a Biological Effect Controller but it doesn't seem to do anything.

A: This is a sub-component used to craft B and higher-level medicines. It will become more useful when you train Organic Chemistry II and start crafting Stimpack B's. The only use you might have for it is to craft some and sell them to more advanced medics. Other sub-components include the Chemical Release Duration Mechanism, Liquid Suspension, and Solid Delivery Shell.

Q: What is Battle Fatigue, how does it affect healing, and how do I get it healed?

A: From the SWG manual page 103: "When you have been badly wounded in multiple campaigns, you may begin suffering from battle fatigue. Essentially, battle fatigue occurs after you accumulate a significant number of wounds. The more Battle Fatigue points you have, the more difficult it becomes to heal your other wounds. Battle Fatigue points are not removed when your wounds are healed; they can only be erased by relaxing in the company of sklled Entertainers. When you find and Entertainer performing, target that character, access their radial menu and select Listen or Watch (or type /listen or /watch). The longer you spend enjoying the performance, the more Battle Fatigue points you will lose."

From the SWG manual page 112: "To heal Mind wounds or battle fatigue, you must be in a campsite or special venue (like a cantina). If you are an Entertainer, you merely need to start dancing (type /startdance [dance name]) or start playing a song (type /startmusic [song name]). Anyone who to[sic] chooses watch or listen to you will be healed, and you will earn the appropriate XP. You can increase your healing abilities by using flourishes."

The manual neglects to mentions that Battle Fatigue can ONLY be healed in cantinas or hotels, not in campsites. I've heard conflicting reports on when Battle Fatigue starts to affect healing rates, I've heard both 200 and 400.

Q: Do mind wounds affect healing rate?

A: Wounds to a patient's Mind, Focus, and Willpower attributes don't affect the number of wounds healed by a medic, only Battle Fatigue does.

Q: How do I find out if a player has wounds to his or her secondary attributes like Strength and Stamina?

A: Currently the only way to do this is ask them. It is widely expected that a /diagnose command will be added soon.

Q: I just trained my Diagnostic skill, which says it increases injury treatment speed, but I still have to wait 30 seconds between wound heals.

A: The Diagnostic skill does not speed up wound healing, it speeds up injury healing. That means that it will only reduce the time between Stimpack uses not Medpack uses. If you want to increase your wound healing speed you will have to take the Doctor profession.

Q: This profession is really hard.

A: Some changes should be coming soon. Read Holocron's message about Making Medic's Lives Easier:
