Thread: Diagnostic IS NOT supposed to speed up wound healing

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this right now and here is what is up. The diagnostic branch does not lower the wait time between wound pack uses. This is how it is supposed to be. It is not a bug. What it does do is lower the amount of time between stim uses. If you want less downtime between heals you have to go doctor and get the wound treatment line.

I'm not sure I think that's true, but if it is, I want it to also reduce the amount of time between wound medicine healing as well.

Not because I'm a power hog, far from it, but the time between wound healing is SO LONG -- why shouldn't we get better at it as we advance?

Because healing massive wounds is what a Doctor does. It's really their only major advantage over a regular Medic. And yes... I will confirm that Diagnostics indeed does NOT lower the time between wound treatments. If they wanted to add a small (+5 or so) bonus to wound treatment speed in addition to injury treatment speed, that would be ok. But not too much or you start taking away the advantage of an Advanced Profession.

It is possible to get faster at wound healing, but you have to be doctor.

Thanks for bringing that up. I bet I may have been confusing soem of the newer medics as well just by terminology use. Saying you can heal damage faster to many still means healing wounds, while those of us who have been on a bit know the difference between damage (the white stuff) and wounds (the black stuff). I'll have to remember to ensure the new medics I talk to know the deistinction when I talk about Diag as well as when I talk about stims and woundpacks.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. As someone that heals a lot more wounds than damage I'll put Diagnostic off until last. A shame, since speeding up wound healing would make a LOT of people having to wait in hospitals happy.

I have to admit that I wouldn't mind seeing Diag also provinde a small speed up for wound healing. It only knocks of a second or two for damage and providing just a few seconds for wounds would be nice as well. Then Doctors could still have the higher speed increases for wounds.I wasn't able to test enough of Doctor before the beta playerwipes (I primarily tested on Ahazi) so I am curious about how fast can, say, a Master Doctor heal wounds? What would be the wait time between heals for them as it stands now?

This is NOT correct.

I did a test today, as I am a doctor and started using A, B and C stims. The time cost is the same

as they were at previous levels, there's no difference. It is still a 4 second delay as i stated before.

I even created a newbie Novice Medic and tested, then went back to the doctor toon and yeap,

takes just as long to use stims. So your assertion that Diag is for Stims is false, or at least it's currently

not in a working stat.

I have Master Medic, Novice Doctor and each level 1 skill trained except crafting in the doctor tree.

I have to agree with Tiff...I tested my stim speed with a new medic and we stimed at the same rate...I have dia IV and the newb had I.

So it doesnt speed it up.

Budurahm, were you healing someone else or yourself?

There is a (possibly) bug with that. If you are healing yourself, the timer will count down to zero but continue to say "you must wait before you can do that" until the novice medic timer runs out. Healing others, it *does* decrease the time between stims. Believe me, it does...

If you don't believe this thread, Just look at the names of the skills you are granted.

Diagnostics:
+5 *Injury* Treatment Speed
Doctor's Wound Treatment Speed
+5 *Wound* Treatment Speed
* Emphasis added

Seems like a pretty clear distinction to me...

Wait, stim healing starts at 4 seconds now? In betathat is about what you got to after going thru the entire diagnostic line. I think they screwed up the starting numbers or something. It used start using the same timer for wounds and then diagnostic would speed it up to the 4 second point. Be happy, you got the easy life because of a bug with the stim timer. =P

No, Sloth, I'm pretty certain that Bud is wrong. Over this last weekend, I went from Diags 1 to Diags 4. each time, the recycle time of using stimpacks decreased a little. Started at about 10 seconds at Novice Medic, down to about 5 seconds for Diags 4. I'm not sure why Bud thinks that Diags does not affect stim recycle time, but it definitely has been for the past three days. Maybe he has lag.
