I want to be able to do basic damage healing on my marksman/scout without having to run back to town so often so I took Novice Medic recently and that works good using /tendwound but of course that whacks your mind. Is it easily and adviseable to obtain just enough medic training to be able to make woundpacks and stimpacks so keep myself (and a few others) healthy?

Any advice much appreciated.

Yes, it is. As a matter of fact, you can use Stim Bs at Novice level. You just won't be able to craft them, but you can easily buy some via the Bazaar. A lot of BEs seem to put them there as all they need is the medical crafting line. If you will need as least Organic Chemstry I if you want to heal wounds without using /tendwound. I would recommend that so you avoid the mental wounds that /tend gives you.

you could always pick up novice entertainer to heal your mind after. i picked up alot of different skills because the cities just arent my cup of tea. ilike being in the middle of nowhere with my pack, my tent, and my rifle.

i have gotten a few ranks in the medic profession, but i cant get any xp in organic chem. do i have to make stimpaks to get that?

you can either work your organic chemistry up to the second tier and craft yourself some B stimpacks, which still only require 5 medicine use, or buy those same B stimpacks from another medic and spend the same points in the first aid line, which will give you a 20 or 30% bonus (dont remember the numbers) to your healing ability. Or just stick with novice and forgo the bonus, and keep using those bought B stims.

Even as a medic id recomend beginning people to take at least novice medic and to buy meds off the bazaar. Why? It gives us medics a market to sell some medicine, and it definately wont put us out of a job- it wasnt untili started using C stims with FA4 that i started hitting heals big enough to really keep ahead of a mean mob. The unskilled use of B stims is purely for reduction of downtime between fights, which is a good thing all around.

As it is, the market for stim b's is crap. I would suggest just training up to organic chem I so you can make basic meds, and maybe II. But I think there will always be a ton of good stimpack b's for a great price.

I know that I have resorted to selling them for below what it cost me to make them because, otherwise I would just destroy them. But I have become a stimpack whore. I use a 22 charge stimpack at least once a day. Since I have a ton of them, I use them liberally and they greatly reduce your downtime when you arerunning missions or out hunting.

There is nothing like jacking yourself back to full health and action with a couple jabs of the needle and keep on going. Sure beats sitting down and watching the clouds for a minute or two.

To use stim-Cs you need phar III if they stim-Cs have been experimented on to lower difficulty, or phar IV for regular ones.

That said, if I am planning to use medical just for the rare heal or help in camp. I would skip the crafting and phar tree. Would get at least first Aid to the level to stop bleeding, and increase the amount healed.

As for purchasing Bs while the bazaar is poor ask around your PA or goto the medical center or near the public crafting station and ask to purchase them. Offer 300-400 eachand purchase a bunch 8-10+ and you should have no problem getting people who will craft them for you. Just make sure to require that they have a good number of charges and have a decent rating level.
