Thread: Factions and Healing

Ok, this is just a rant about healing and factions.

Currently I am neutral and it annoys me to no end when someone comes in to be healed (or if I'm out and about and someone just needs damage healing) and it tells me that it wouldn't be a good idea to heal them. I'm like what the heck, why can't I heal someone who has declared their faction (even covertly) being neutral. One of the whole things about being neutral is to service both sides (with the other being to stay completely out of the conflict).

The way I see it if I'm neutral I should be able to heal people of both factions, whether covert or overt, and be able to trade with them. And if I have declared my faction I should be able to heal/trade with neutral people and members of my own faction (but not cross-faction obviously).

Also, if I'm completely wrong about that, then let me heal/trade with covert people, because the whole thing with being covert is not to know what faction someone is with. If I don't know what faction they are because they are covert, then I should be able to heal and/or trade with them.

Anyone else feel this way, or am I going off on a tangent.

Thanks

I agree that this is a PITA. If I'm a neutral doctor I should be able to heal anyone weather they are factioned or not. Especially if they are covert. Someone have a good explanation why this is set up this way??

Your neutral and don't want to get involved in the war. If it wasn't this way you could heal faction members and not be shot at.

My feeling is that if I'm neutral I'm going to try to make money off both sides if possible.

Sorry by definaition that is a mercenary not a neutral person. They will add this later hopefully according to Q, it was something he wanted, the possible exploits are too big if neutrals could do it.

The problem is that coverts can possibly have TEFs. If you heal an overt or acover with a TEF, you are supposed to get a TEF yourself. If you are neutral this can't happen though. To make sure this never occurs, neutrals can't heal coverts.

You have to also put another factor in there. Just think, when you do heal that person you are also supporting that person. They make it so you can not heal them because you should join them if you want to heal them so badly and what to support them by healing them. Also the game is set up that you will finally have to join a side of the fight and not stay neutral. It is why and how they designed it.

I don't think we should be able to heal overts without some faction change or TEF, but I think it is odd that we can't heal coverts. Um, they are supposed to be covert, right? How would we mystically know they are with the imperials/rebels?

Anyone can heal a covert

as long as they arent TEF...

I have healed a rebel covert as an overt imperial...

(How did i know he was rebel covert? cuz I had just killed him in a fight)

its just that sometimes the game bugs out with tefs and u have to relog...

The onlt this is neutrals cant heal overts or tef coverts cuz of abuses like, healing without fear of retribution in pvp...

So factioned meds only being able to heal overts or tef coverts...call it a faction perk

Argh...so much misinformation out there, and on these boards. Some of you are really confused about the difference between a Covert and a TEFd Covert. Think of it this way: Covert = Covert. TEFd Covert = Overt.

- As an Overt, you can heal coverts of the opposite factionas long as they DO NOT have a TEF. You can ALWAYS heal coverts of your own faction. You can always heal neutrals.

- As a Covert, you can heal coverts of the opposite factionas long as they DO NOT have a TEF. You can ALWAYS heal coverts of your own faction. You can always heal neutrals.

- As a Neutral, you cannot heal Overts, or any Coverts WITH A TEF. You can heal Coverts from both sides as long as they DO NOT have a TEF!

- You can ALWAYS heal Neutrals andANYONE from your own faction. As a Covert, you will get a TEF for healing Overts of your own faction, or assisting them and shooting members of the opposite faction. This makes you attackable and under all the rules of being Overt until it wears off. Yes, if you are Covert and heal a TEFd Covert, you become TEFd yourself - it's like a virus, and also a common battle tactic.

- You cannot TRADE with neutrals if you are Overt, or a Covert with a TEF.

Anything else would be extremely exploitable.

Naw - it's confusing because you can get a TEF so easily as a Covert healer and not know it. Or see someone you know is Covert but happens to have a TEF and get confused. PlusTEFs spread through the hospital after PvP fighting like a disease...but basically that's the rundown. If you think that's confusing, wait till we get to combat TEFs!

Easy way to check if you're TEFd: try and trade with a neutral.

seems that TEF is bugged too...sometime you can get a faction flag and relog and clear it..

Happened to my neutral buddy....he triedto trade me and it said he couldnt trade with a opposite faction...funny since he's neutral...I was covert at the time..

he relogged it was all fixed
