Thread: The hospital is not a war zone!

I've had this game now for a week, and I've already seen two pitched battles inside a hospital on Starsider. Evidently, when everyone gets together into a room, armed to the teeth, they simply can't be patient. And they can't be patients, in my opinion.

I try to heal people as they come in, but I'm tired of having to deal with discourteous players who rush in and begin firing at the opposing faction over the heads of the doctors and patients. I'm neutral, so I'm not worried about personal safety, but it's just really, really annoying. And then the hummer 'droids and the womp rats join in, and the hospital is in chaos.

I realize that this isn't something easily fixed. After all, your opponent is at his weakest when he's being healed in the hospital; it's a perfect time and place to strike (from a strategic standpoint). If you made a no-war zone around the hospital, then the hospital will be where all the smacktalk happens, shouting and name-calling will drown out everything, and there will be a permanent ambush set up right outside the door. Somehow, I think there has to be a solution. I don't know what to suggest, though. I just thought I ought to say something and see if anybody else feels the same way.

I don't think implementing an actual ban on combat is warranted. But you can refuse service to anyone who fights in the hospital. In the interest of roleplaying, I told someone to get his bantha out of the hospital. They're dirty. We, as medics, do have recourse to people who are unpleasant in hospitals. Simply tell them to go elsewhere.

I dont see what the problem is, if you die , you wake up covert as long as you didnt respawn at a faction cloning facility...

If people are stupid enuff to be black hammed and then declare and then run into a med facility for healing..they deserve to be shot...

If a overt runs into a hospital and sits there waiting to be healed...he deserves to be killed...

One thing that I rember from talking with someone who was a beta tester was that in beta they self-declared med centers and cantina's neutral areas where PvP would not take place. I would like something like that to happen, butI realize that due to the number of servers right now, it'll probablu be pretty much impossible to make it happen.

Just a thought.

You declare, you take the risk of being killed anywhere. Even in hospitals.

Is it annoying to those who are neutral? Yes. Should a game system be implemented to stop it? No.

And yes, in early beta we had a 'truce' going...but doubt that'll ever work out now.

The 'truce' was made by a handful of players and ultimately determined not to be popular opinion. It was also instituted before the introduction of Covert spawn upon death, when griefing was rampant.

Declaring a hospital as a 'safe zone' would lead to people using it to exploit TEFs and escape from battles.

I have no problem with fighting in hospitals, cloning centers, etc. I really don't see how it affects you - it's not like you can be hit by stray blaster fire. For those that participate in the GCW part of the game, it's a war.

The last offical word on this, was something like: You'd be dumb to try and get healed in a public place if you are an overt. Yo uare a target everywhere.

Secure cloning and healing areas for overts are in the game (just reaaaaly expensive).

Overts basically have 4 buildings they can heal at safely.

1.) Faction HQ's . Dunno if anyone has made enough FP's to buy any of these on any server yet. Secure cloning and healing facilities (unti lit gets blown up).

2.) player houses.

3.) Affiliated PA halls.

4.) Mythical NPC factional dungeons/big bases... (the ones that grow and take control of surrounding areas). I never saw one spawn... hell they may have become the factional HQ's or been removed fro mte feature lsit.. I dunno.

Overts can also take advantage of camps and medical droids.

After a while, people will learn it isn't safe in the hospitals (random patrols) and stop going there... thus stopping the firefights.

There are a lot of overts currently that really don't understand what being overt really entails... We had a big rush of them in Beta 3 when there was a FP exploit to powergrind crafters. Overt dosen't have safe public spots or time-outs because you are AFK sampling... Hospitals and cantinas are very public places, an da very bad place to be as an overt.

Yes citizen,

As an upstanding citizen in the Galactic Empire I would expect you to refuse service to any Rebel scum who come calling. Please feel free to report them to your local imperial representative and the problem will be dealt with. If you refuse services to any civil servants of the Empire, however, please expect to be visited by the local magistrate so that you may be "re-educated" if you are to be a proper citizen of the empire.

I'll heal anyone I can...rebel covert or not...

Not all Imperials are cruel and heartless...

Of course I'll heal the wounds you just got from cloning after I killed you...

Respect your enemy and they will respect you...

Now that I don't need Medical exp anymore, I basically only heal fellow faction members. There's very few true neutrals in Theed and since PA tags are commonplace now, it's easy to keep track of who deserves a heal - and who I hope doesn't make a ugly mess bleeding to death on the floor of my hospital. Besides, Imperials tip better!
