Hi all,

I'm a marksman by profession and it's useful to be able to heal my wounds in the battlefield. This I do using stimpacks.

Here's my question. If I want to invest some points in the medic profession, which should I take. I can use stimpacks to heal myself but each time I do I use up 200 points in mind. I would like to lower this cost because it makes it very tempting for my enemies to shoot me in the head when they realize how much of an airhead I've become.

Thanks for replying or for at least reading this post.

I believe if you want to lower the cost of a Mind action you'll need to bump up your Focus. Focus, as I recall, governs Mind usage while Willpower is the regeneration rate of the Mind attribute.

A few things become necessary. First, if you want to use anything other than Stim As, you're going to need a bit of Pharmacology. Stim Cs require Pharmacology IV, unless they've been successfully experimented for ease of use. That minimizes their effectiveness, but allows Pharmacology III medics to use them.

Second, do you want to make your own meds? If you like crafting...a lot...then stick points in Organic Chemistry until you reach at least Stim B. Those do between 100 and 200 healing, depending on the amount you stick in First Aid.

First Aid and Diagnostics are very useful, but not technically essential. First Aid means you heal more with each Stim charge, and Diagnostics decreases the time between healings, but neither one prevents you from using medicine.

So, what do you need to invest in? Pharmacology beyond a doubt, but First aid and Diagnostics are very useful. But stay away from Organic Chemistry unless you don't like buying medicine.

A Novice Medic can use Stim Bs. He just can't make them without going up the Organic Chemistry tree.
