Thread: Medics on Faction-Raids...The problems...

So, as I do every night in Anchorhead, I was sitting in front of the Chem and Food Crafting Station waiting for a Rebel Raid Party to form up to attack Bestine. As always, a party forms up and before I know it we're off killing all the imps in our way. Now, I'm a full-time medic with a gun, not half-medic, half-marksman, I spend almost all of my time healing the fighters, which are in turn keeping me alive. Now then, I rarely fire any shots and I don't think I've ever delivered a death blow in my raiding-career. Now then, even when I do fire a couple shots I only get +1 Rebel faction and -1 Imperial, but when I'm trying to save someone's life and the group get's split up all over town, I often get -19 Rebel faction points.

Now then, back to the problem, I think that medics should get Faction points while on raids even if they haven't fired a single shot, maybe more if so but nevertheless, they should get some. Because, for all the full-time medics out there who may not even have ANY combat skill, but want to keep their faction group alive while they trash, or at least try to, the opposite faction's city. I just brought this up because it seems that fora medic the only way to get faction points is to run deliver missions and if they have some combat skill and are with a friend, destroy missions. But those last options don't really make sense. I'm some of you will propose that the raid groups have a deathblow-order, but everyone knows that that would take a HUGE organization in a group of 20 people, and that even if it is more or less respected, there often aren't enough faction players at one time to satisfy the lust of a full group.

To sum all this up, I think that faction points should either be split amongst the group but the faction points increased, or at least that medics get some form of handicap in the field for faction points.

Hope some of you agree with me, good luck to all in game!

I agree that the faction point system has its problems, especially when considering non-combat professions (well, healers mainly, I don't think Artisans have a real need to declare, but I digress).

As a medic, it's very hard to gain faction points. It's usually an extremely slow process. I don't mind that, but I do mind that in a raid I may get no faction points and actually lose faction points when I'm finally death-blowed. That just doesn't seem right. I need to keep a pool just for the sake of being able to heal my comrades if I'm death-blowed.

That's my take on it at least.

best thing to do would be to implement grp factions for Dbs...

If some1 in the grp DBs a player the faction points are spread over the group..

The question is, how do you separate a raid situation from regular playing? because, in truth all it is is regular playing near enemy forces.

Healing other overts (or tefed coverts) going directly into faction leads to huge abuses.

How can the game know you are on a faction raid? Without that ability, there really isn't a way to do anything about this.

PVP is by definition a combat activity. If you got faction for healing, then the artisans woudl ahve a case for getting faction for giving guns to PVP players, entertainers to get faction for blue bar healing PVP people... I just don't see all of that happening.

Medics can get faction points for Faction missions in groups.

As it is now PVP gives points to everyone for the same activities... if you don't participate in the activities that give the points, that is a personal choice.

The game is not designed around "healer only" classes, rather a mixture of skillsets. You are choosing not to get faction points... they are not being denied to you.

It is fine to say "I'm a healer, I want faction.", but I don't see how it could be done without exploits, personally.

Doh, Elenora trumped me with a good idea.. heh...

Group splitting would definitely be preferable to the FFA and mad rushes to DB that we have now.

problem is that faction points are slim as it is for kills to split them over 20 is like only 1 a kill...

but hey maybe that will stop zerging?

Zerging in PVP isn't really PVP (unless there is an AT-ST around).

20 people jumping on 2 in PVP is just as pointless as 20 jumping on random woodland critters. In PVP it is worse though, because only 1 person gets the faction from DB... (kinda like ninja harvesting scouts)

An even share (min of 1 point) would encourage smaller PVP groups, and better tactics than "human wave,"

I went with Steele Jim on my first ever raid last night. Steele went LD and I became the only medic. I had a blast, tho. I followed one guy and kept healing him until I was targeted then I ran like a sissy! The dude followed me out and I killed him (he shouldn't have called me a b****). The problems I saw were I had absolutley no control of anything when the shooting started. By that I mean if I wasn't already following the dude I would never have been able to keep up (thanks for that tip, BTW, Elenora). And I couldn't shift targets fast enough as my team mates were hit. AND the group display gets in the way. I didin't get any faction or any XP, other than the heals, which didn't really amount to much. After the fight I came to the conclusion thatthe way things are right now, you basically need 1 medic per shooter. And, I believe that we should get faction for being part of the raid IF we are overt.

I kinda got off point there. Sorry. I don't see how sharing faction throughout the group to those that are OVERT could be abused. By being overt you are basically running the same risk of being killed as your team mates.

Anyway, it was fun last night, but I'm not oding that anymore - too wasteful of my resources. I'll stick to the small hunting groups.
