Thread: Using Stimpacks and medpacks out of your backpack

I can see from a realistic stand point why this is not in the game. I understand that you can map them to hotkeys, but that gets kind of messy. I really dont think it would be a big deal to let medics do this. I like keeping my meds in my backpack, but the feasibility of it has not let me do that so far. It is much more tidy and organized. Unless someone knows some kind of workaround for this?

Not saying it's a non-issue, but it will become less of an issue when you start using factory crates of stims/medpacks. A crate is like a stack of 50 stims where you just double-click the crate to pop out a stim when you need one. Unfortunately we are still at the stage where everyone crafts single items that don't stack, so inventory is more chaotic.

Ahh great!

Thanks alot, I just got out of Pre-Med myself to become a Master Medic. I cannot wait for crates then.

I do use my wound packs from my backpack. This is the way I do it:

I have the wound pack in my main inventory and drag it to one of the F keys, then drop it in my backpack. The background on the F key turns to black but I can still use it.

For drive-by healing of artisans, entertainers and people in town I jsut have my backpack open and moved to the side of the screen. I wantder around looking for people with white bars and then double click the med in my backpack. I have a satchel for wound medicine and I have that open in my inv so if someone has a lot of wounds I just double click to heal the wounds. Comabt is differnet but for in-town healing this is good enough for me.

I definately recommend satchels for keeping stuf organized, one for resources (have to move to inv to use them but great for storage), one for survey tools, one for enhance meds, one for state meds, one for damage meds, also keep abackup crate of stims in inv for emergencies and long hunting trips

I have one backpack which is equipped. CanI have more than 1 backpack and fill them and just equip the oneI need at that time? If i could identify each one somehow would sure help with organizing and crafting.

I use stimpacks and woundpacks out of containers al lthe time.. but I use the radial menu on the items to heal.

I keep the pack open at all times near my group ham bars. select the person I want to heal and radial the med.

This allows me to keep a mix of medicines in my pack (A-C stims, and assorted woundpacks)... and I can use the level I need to use. None of the messy random use that /healdamage hotkeys cause... Lets me save my hotkeys for all my combat moves and other trickery.

I've seen this a lot today on various threads. What's messy about it? I've been using this method for a week.I setup shift-f2 thru shift-f7 with the various woundpacks, and they work just fine. Never a need to go into my pack unless it runs out of hits.

Hotkeys messy? How? I think that's the only way.

I'm a master scout w/ novice medic and I figured that out weeks ago.

I have a satchel labeled "Medical Satchel" filled with stims, I hotkey one while the packs open then close it all and viola! Instant healing,

I use the same satchel/hotkey combo for my traps

You don't need to drag stimpacks to the F-keys. Just use your tenddamage command, and it will atomatically use a stimpack from your inventory.

Is there a way to modify the /healdamage command so that it uses a stim A, stim B, or stim C? I haven't found one yet, which is why leaving a pack open or mucking about with hotkeys to select the right grade seems to be necessary.

/healdamage has several problems. One is, it won't use meds out of your backpack. Which is what this thread was about in the first place.

Another problem is, it will (randomly?) use any med you have. Healing someone with only slight damage? It will use a charge of your stimpack D. Healing someone with 1500 wounds? It will use your woundpack A.

So, hotkeys are better sortof, but I agree it is WAY to messy. If you are a doctor you have 6 kinds of wounds to heal, woundpacks A B and C, and then stimpacks A B C D. If you can find a way to hotkey all that I'd love to see it. THEN THEY RUN OUT! ARGGGGG and you have to rehotkey 340 different meds. Not cool at all.

I'd like an option to make a health woundpack B hotkey that sticks around even if you run out of them, and searches recursivly through all your bags/backpacks.
