I finally got a crate of Stim Pak D's through my factory and wished to share the experience for those who wish to try.

I sat at my friends personal chemical/food craftig station for a few hours til I had schematics with optimal experimental effectiveness to max the amount of healing done by each use of a stim pak D. My original goal was to make 1000 stim pak Ds but I could never get a schematic for more than 100. Since StimPak D's require matched BEC's from a crate, I made a 20 BEC schematic ran it through my factory for experimentation on making my final stim pak D schematic. Once I had a good stim pak D schematic for 100, I proceeded processing my component schematics. Since I could not get a schematic for BEC for 200, I had made two 100 BEC schematics. This will cause me woes later. After I had my crates of BEC, LS, and CDR components, I loaded my stim pak D schedmatic, filled my crates of components and organics and fiberplast into the ingredient hopper and kicked off manufacturing. 10 mins in I got an emailed that manufacturing had stopped and I was clueless as to why. I tried different combinations of things before I realized the stim pak D schedmatic was referencing the BEC crate created by my 20 BEC run. It then occurred to me that the stim D schematic must be made from the very same BEC lot it was created from. So I took out a couple of BEC from one of my 50 BEC crates, along with a LS and a CDR and remade a 99 Stim Pak D schedmatic.
Repeated everything into my factory and commenced manufacturing. 90 minutes later, I got an email that 49 stim pak Ds were created. Ah, then I realized because I had made my BEC's from two separate schematics, that only the ones I used in the newest stim pak D schematic would work. Thus, I had to pull a pair of BEC from the second crate and make another stim pak D schematic to finish manufacturing the final 49 stim pak Ds.

Lessons Learned:

1) Although it is not clear, when you make your final stim pak D schematic using a pair of factory twin BEC components, you must use that same BEC schematic produced BEC components in your ingredient hopper when you are ready for the final stim pak D run thru your factory.

2) When you load a schematic in a factory, it does not get destroyed upon completion of a factory run. Thus if you need 200 identical BEC and your schematic is only for 100, you just need to put in enough ingredients for an additional 100 BEC after completion of the first 100 and re-run manufacturing BEC against the still loaded BEC schematic in your factory.
This will then allow you to have the necessary 200 identical factory created BEC you will need to run 100 stim pak D thru
your factory.

So when you get ready to make that 1000 stim pak Ds just remember to run through your 2000 BEC's first, plus 20 extra for experimentation during your stim pak D schematic creation always utilizing the same BEC schematic and you will fly through this smoothly unlike my first attempt.

For those wondering how long does the actual manufacturing process take, I averaged 3 hours per run of a schematic. It did not seem to differ for 50 or 100 counts. And it only took 30 minutes to run through 20.

I hope this saves a few medics a few nights of frustration.

Enjoy and get Stimming.

took me about 15 hrs to run a full load of 1000 LS...

blazing speed on that factory...

Yeah. I think the right formula is that each item take 6*Complexity Seconds to make. The lowest complexity item on the medic line is, I beleive and please corect me if I'm wrong, a 10. So those items tak 60 secs, or 1 minute to produce one. If you prodcue 100 of those items it should be just over and hour and a half.

Only for BECs or other items that will be used in multiples in a schematic do I ever bother NOT experimenting on the item. For everything else,I experiment it and that raises the complexity, thereby raising the manufacturing times. I can't figure out how to get in a decent amount of "play" time withouth haveing at least 2 factories running, but with needing the space from a medium hose to store all the resources and crates.... I'm starting to wonder if any of it is really worth it.

Personally I keep crates in the output hopper till I need them (there's about 20 crates in there right now I think).

The output hopper has a capacity of 1000 if I recall correctly so that will fit a lot of crates.

Course that means I can't actually move my factory if I wanted to.

Lowca,

Here is a tip that I got from a guide i read somewhere (allakhazam?). When you are crafting and you choose to make a schematic and you get that screen that says how many, it looks like 100 is the max (if you use the slider), but if you actually type a larger number in the box (1000?) it still works. I have made a schematic like this, but I havent ever manufactured more than a hundred items at once.

Maybe this will help,

Syd

I have a newbie question for you all on factories.

I was running some chem release mechs last night schematic QTY 100. After 4 hours it still had not completed so I stoped the process and it was at 95 done. Is there a bug that the actual process will not finish a whole run of a schematic? Another friend in the medical business is having the same problem.

i regularly run 1000 component on my factory...

1000 CDRM will take almost 1.5 days to run..

Yeah, using a 1000 item schematic would always stop at 100 for me until after the "factory patch" recently. Now it just keeps spitting crates out in lots of 50.
