Thread: Questions about using factories for pharmaceuticals
2. Once I buy one, I realize it takes some serious cash to keep them running. Many people say they should be re-deeded after every run. What does that mean? I don't have the architect abilities, so how can I re-deed them?
3. How do crates work? Is it possible to send the output from the factory directly into the crate? If so, can I sell the filled crate on the bazaar as just one item? I sure hope I can, because the bazaar currently won't let me have more than about 25 items for sale.
4. I'm making low-quality meds. Are they worthless? I don't have any special berries or water, I'm just using animal hide and petrochemical, because that's what is on hand.
5. What's the best way to sell them? I've had my stim-B's on sale on multiple tatooine cities for 180 each for almost a whole week now, and not one has sold yet. Are there any other way to sell these that doesn't involve spamming?
Thanks,

2. It'll take about 1,000cr a day in maintenance for the factory, and about the same (1,000 units) of power. The factory only consumes power when it's running though.
2a. Where do you get power? You can buy it off the bazaar or set up a harvester for it.
3. The factory automatically puts whatever it builds into crates. You can pull items from a crate, but you can never get them back in. So it's difficult to make crates for less than the full size the factory wants to make (50 for most medical things) unless you do each run individually.
There's not too much that I'd want to sell on the bazaar in crates - 3,000cr for a crate of 50 means 60cr each - nothing I make is that cheap
4. It's hard to sell low quality meds, because your major market is people with just novice medic, and they want as big a heal as they can get. I suppose you might do ok selling to the cantina healers, where getting the biggest heal possible isn't such a big deal.
Still, the major market for stims seem to be medium to high end stim-B's - this means 20-30 charges, 200+ heal. If you're below that range, you're probably going to have trouble selling.
5. Don't know how to help you with this one - my stuff sells on the bazaar pretty regularly. One tip: always put the charges and heal amount in the name of the stim, this helps people identify your stuff quickly on the bazaar (no one wants to go through 50 stims looking at the detail on each one).
About re-deeding. Re-deeding is an all-purpose work-around when your factory gets stuck and stops working, etc... *Supposedly* the bugs with factories were fixed in this morning's patch and re-deeding is no longer necessary. But if you have problems and find yourself needing to redeed:
Redeeding is the reverse of placing the factory - you get a radial option to "Destroy" any installation that you've placed. If you have enough money in the maintenance pool, the deed will be returned to your inventory. If not the whole thing is actually DESTROYED. Always have enough money in the maintenance pool! It carries over now (minus the re-deed fee), so there's no reason not to put money in there now.
Make sure to remove your schematic and clean out the input and output hoppers before re-deeding! Anything left behind gets destroyed.
I looked into making the advanced components for Stim-B's last night, and decided that it's just not feasible. No one had the bizarre ingredients needed on the bazaar (no pun intended), and there's
no way that I'm going to invest time to make harversters, and plant them on Dantooine (which I
can't even get to from my planet) just so I can make better meds.
So, it looks like I'll be either tossing my meds, or storing them in my house, for my own
personal use throughout the game.

I actually was surprised at the marketplace for Stim B's. I currently sit in the med center with my droid crating and healing wounds ( with B's), and selling my wares on the bazaar. Everything sells from 110 heal to 200+ heals.
My Stim B pricing structure:
110-150: 400 credits
150-190: 500 credits
190-230: 600 credits
230+: 700 credits
I rarely have anything last on the Bazaar for more than a day. Course after this post all those with factories will probably flood the marketand ruin the lowly crafters :-) I still need med crafting exp more than I need money.

I have done mining since the game released. The best way to mine is to strip mine. My suggestion for you on pharmaceuticals is this:
1) Find out which material is best during the shift (that is a unique material).
2) Strip mine that material or strip mine two materials....never place on more than 2 planets (will drive you mad).
3) Load up harvesters for 2-3 days and alternate your checks (day wise). Pay attention to shifts in case they stop but no need to run to them. With the re-deed and power changes to harvesters, this method works well.
I have been on 7 planets before...and have run over 40 pieces of equipment. I am down to 10-15 now and servicing one planet at a time.
