Ok, I started out as a marksman/scout, hoping to become a Bounty Hunter. I've done some Imperial missions, and made a little money in the process. I found out that doing those missions (out of Bestine) wasn't paying enough. Anyway, I got enough faction points to get some personnel support, and did a few missions with the officer I bought. After losing the officer multiple times to some NPC mob, I decided I needed some medic skills. I hung around the local med center for days, patching various people up, and never getting tipped in the process. Can anyone tell me if there is an easier way to get credits?

I assume by "easier way to get credits" you are refering to getting more credits healing people. All I can say, really, is welcome to the medical community!! I would suggest going somewhere that is not heavily populated with other medics or especially doctors. If I see a medic in the med center, I'll ask them if I can help them heal, but a lot of doctors will just go ahead and do it. Believe me, if it's between you and a doc, you're the one that's most likely not to be paid.

Some helpful ideas might be:

Turn on your medic profession (if it says your a marksman, no one will ask you for heals).

Buy some good woundpack-B's to heal people quickly and you'll get paid better.

Ask the people if they want your help with healing BEFORE you start healing them. If you don't do this, many people will assume you're healing them for xp and leave it at that.

Talk to the people you are healing (aka bedside manner).

Hope this helps.

Since you have scout skills I would suggest you try hunting for some good quality meat, the stuff with a high OQ, and PE usually sells well... if you wand medical xp then go to a cantina and heal the dancers.
Personally, I have gotten some really good tips for healing wounds in Restuss on Rori. Thoughts that tip well often says tat they tip so well because there do not normally se medics there.

If you want to heal yourself you might as well carry on doing the missions, healing at med centers is not a worth while venture unless your a Master Doctor and can heal wounds in a heart beat.

If you want to increase you medic skills, try grouping with others and healing them in combat. If not, then just use your healing abilities to keep you and your pets alive.
