Thread: Did it all, with out grinding...
Everything I made, I either used or sold. Mostly used.
Yeah, I got to Org chem 4 without grinding, now that im a doctor im finding it harder to do it without grinding (I dont belive in throwing meds away).
I find myself now crafting enough meds to fill my med bags and then if I need the xp, start stock piling them in my house.
I have yet to really"Grind" any skill, except for Ranged Weapon Support.
Otherwise, all my Xp has come from actuallyhealing people, using the meds i make, or sellingthem on the bazar.
The reason I did most of that was because, quite frankly, you earn Med XP at a much faster rate with C-LevelStims and B-Level Medpacks then with the low-level As and Bs. And, at the time I was grinding, there weren't other high-end Doctors around to purchase highly experimented meds from.
I had enough of the A and B-Level stuff in Beta. 15pt wound heals does not a Medic Make.
I got through Medic without grinding for Medical Crafting XP by crafting Stimpack As for the first 2 levels, then Stimpack Bs for the 3rd and then Woundpack Bs for the 4th level of crafting. I did it fairly quickly, getting it in about 3 days.
From there it went all down hill. Why? Doctor's crafting is a nightmare. You need a LOT of Medical Crafting XP which takes a long time to get. I got through the first 2 levels of it by crafting Stimpack Cs and Stimpack Bs and also Woundpack Bs. It took me about 1-2 weeks to get through that and I wasn't prepared to spend 2 weeks per crafting level, so I gave up, bought out the whole Bazaar's worth of crappy inorganics and organics and then crafting like my life depended on it. I crafted BECs in Practice mode (I didn't have that when I was a medic...you young medics are lucky ^^) for hours. It took about 7 hours in total to get the last 2 levels and after that, you feel great although you fingers hurt.
But yes...I did all of medic without grinding....
I finished the entire Medic tree and most of the Doctor tree without ever slipping into "Grind Mode". I used everything I made, and crafted things to occupy myself during down time (waiting for shuttles/players, running long distances, sampling resources).
My Doctor crafting has not kept up with the other Doctor skills, but I think that' because I have continued to make normal components instead of the advanced variants.
I feel quite satisfied with my progress - I feel as though I have gotten better just by playing the game. This is a relief from the mindset of "must play so I can get better" that I experienced from EverQuest's later levels.
