Hey all

I'm a marksman learning up on medicine to become a combat medic. I'm trying to get the hang of it and have managed to heal a few people but can't seem to use Stimpacks (which I've made myself) or healpacks - it says I need a medicine use skill of 33 but there seems to be no such skill or no way to get cp in medicine use. It's kind of frustrating as doing a normal heal without packs takes so much mind I can only do them very slowly and it'll take an age for my xp to advance.

Any help would be greatly apprecviated.

Thanks

Medicine use is gain by the pharmacology tree.
At pharmacology III you'll have 30 in medicine use, at pharmacology IV: 40.
You can decrease the medicine use requierement by experimentation points (instead of increase the effectivness or charges) to use your packs with pharma III.

Thanks for that, I see now.

However, I don't understand how I can advance up the tree as, whenever I heal someone without stims it takes pretty well all of my mind status and I have to wait ages for it to go up again so to get to level 4 pharm would take literally months.

Is there any way of doing it quicker?

Thanks

your not using the right stims if you a newbie use a or even b stims i think they have a med use of 5, also use wound pack a's if your trying to use stims with a 33 med use it sounds like your trying to use stim c's to me.

Stims come in a bunch of differnt levels a,b,c,d,e i think it ends at e. anyways any novice medic can use 'A' stims and im almsot certain any novice medic can use 'B' stims. However you must be a doc to use E stims for example

I'll go ahead and assume you're making stim C's, since those usually have a base med use of 30+.

In order to use things that you actually can use, stick with (med use5, only)stim B's and wound A's/B's (if you're high enough in O Chem line). Tending damage (without stims) gives no exp no matter what, and healing yourself of anything doesn't give any exp as well. If you still lose greater than, oh, 1/5th of your mind bar when you heal with stims and woundpacks, then you probably should stat migrate your mind secondary stats up to at least 500 both so that you can heal for an extended period of time.

No forced interaction (in an MMORPG?), but hey, the expansions sure seem forced.

Ah right ok. I think I was making the lowest level of stims and was not looking at how much medical use xp they needed.

The med pack was one I bought and I didn't look at the usage requirements.

I'll have a go at making stims tonight and see how it goes.

Thanks chaps

Don't use /tend (or /quickheal - first aid IV) for xp, they're pretty useless (except if you're on a hunt, want to save someone and don't have anymore stims).

Since you're also a marksman, I guess you can afford some master doc made stimpacks B. Like RCS37 said, it only need 5 in medicine use (you got it with the novice medic box).
It could seems expensive, but it worth it (smth like 350 effectiveness and 25 charges).

Then go hunt with a group (it's great if there is some brawlers), and heal the ppl. You gain much more med xp by healing health and action (like in combat) than only action (like healing entertainer).
