Thread: Stupid Newbie Medic Questions

I just recently bought an R2 droid because I wanted a Clothing Crafting Station component for my tailoring. But it also came with a Medical Module, so I figured, heck, why not pick up Novice Medic and take advantage of that, too.

And I have, and it's pretty cool being able to heal myself!

My main question is, what should I be doing with my medic XP, given that:
1. I'm really just dabbling in Medic, and while I'd like to hang on to some skills in it, I definitely won't have the skill points or inclination to go for Master Doctor or something in the long run.
2. I'm not interested in medical crafting, and just want to buy my meds (I get plenty of crafting in my main profession, thankyouverymuch!)
3. I've got that droid, and want to use his medical module to best advantage
4. I'm really just dabbling in combat too - I do some solo faction missions and solo hunting occasionally, just self-defense most of the time, and don't generally do big group hunting and killing stuff.

Any advice on good skills to take? I'm a little fuzzy on what they actually affect, as a practical matter.

I just became a novice medic too, and would like to know answers to those questions too. As well as the best way to get my skills up?

Should I hang out in the Med Center, crafting stimpacks and biofilters? Healing people (for little points) as they come in?

What's the best way to heal people, since I still haven't figured that out yet? Should I /tendWound, or what about healdamage? Everytime I try that that it tells me that I don't have that skill yet.

Thanks

Pharmacology will let you use more advanced Stims/Wound packs. I would get to level III (or IV - can't remember which) to use C stims and B wounds on yourself. Those will be the best bang for the buck.

BUT, if you want to stay with B stims work on First Aid, that will improve each heal you make.

Best of both worlds would be to go pharma and FA.

I tried doing a 'driveby' healing to someone out in the field. I think it was a /tendwound and it said that I healed them for X Action points, but I didn't see any XP show up in my skills (it's still at 0 ). What should I be doing?

Cool, Pharmacology and FA is pretty much what I was thinking.

Am I correct that Pharmacology is pretty much useless until level III if you're just using, and not crafting (in which case the medicalforage increases would be useful), meds? It seems like meds either require 5 to use, or like 35 or something, with nothing in between (that I've seen on bazaar, anyhow.)

And Diagnostics is basically just healing speed, right? Seems like that'd be most relevant for combat medics or people who want to help more patients in the hospitals, and largely irrelevant for my goals?

Also, does anybody understand exactly what the medical droid module does for you? Obviously, I can heal wounds outside the hospital, but does it make me *better* at healing them than I would be otherwise?
