Thread: Medic Faction in Combat
All of us medics like to get away from the dull monotony of the medical center. And even us medics have an aspiration to gain ranks within the imperial/rebel ranks. However if a medic were to decide to go all out healing, which is a great advantage to his group(with me healing my friend took out a red rebel when he used to only get it 1/8 the way down as long as i healed him).
However with the current grouping system the faction and experience is split based on how much damage was given by that player. This leads to a problem where when us medics are fighting factional enemies (npcs) we gain no faction from the kill yet we were a great and integral part in killing the npc. The problem with this is that in order for medics to gain/lose faction, they either have to quit healing and fight, which at high levels leaves some slack tot hem, or they can only rely on missions.
Since I am not one to propose a problem w/out a solution... It might be a possible solution if the dev's would link the faction gained/lost to how much/long medics healed the group during the battle. This way, if a medic doesn't participate, he doesn't get his share of faction gains/losses.
If the get TEF's for doing so, their should certainly be some sort of reward

I do, however, believe that faction points should be divided equally amongst a group, and it is my understanding that this is already the case. At least, I got decent amounts of points for inadvertantly running a Rebel mission with a covert.
I found this not to be true.
Here is an example:
Me and my friend were attacking a rebel general (we were grouped, not sure about ungrouped). I took one shot at it, then proceeded to heal my friend while he killed it. He got 14 fp, i got a measly 1 fp. I find a problem with this.
well do destroy missions instead of just klling npcs...
I personally have never had a problem getting full fp...
i think you are mistaken...as i recall from running my imp missions with my PA, faction points for destroys are spread over the whole part like reward money is...how much damange u do determines combat xp and weapon xp...
same goes with attacking faction npcs
Valkyryn, i think you misunderstood my idea. I agree with no medics getting faction for healing. I'm talking about how, when i'm fighting a rebel npc with my friend, and i'm only healing my friend. My friend gets all the imperial faction( and rebel faction loss) for the rebel kill, this is where i have the problem.
I believe that medics should be able to share in that imperial faction gain (and rebel faction loss).
heres a solution...take 1 shot at the npc..thats all you need...
its not based on damage..its based on if u helped killed it at all or not...
i get full xp for npc rebel kills when grped and healing after i shoot the npc one time...

I think you are missing the point. Why do medics always get the answer to"do missions"?
Medics should do destroy missions to get faction points? Why? No combat class is required to, but they need the medic to fight NPCs (i.e. a rebel raid on Mos Espa). That's not a mission, but it is a raid for the cause. The medic is an integral part of the raid, they deserve just as many fp as the fighters.
I agree wholeheartedly that something needs to be done. A heal on a combatant that is in a fight with an enemy faction NPC would be a good solution.
As far as the concerns for getting too much fp for healing: this is very easy to handle. We just need to come up with a good ratio that balances out the fp gained compared to a fighter.

problem is its just too hard to code in a system for getting fp for healing without running into major exploits..id rather not get fps than have people running around with a bilion fp..we've already seen what thats like..remember the first 3 days of the game
people were running around in full storm trooper armor...
Just a side note: If it's YOUR mission being completed, you'll get more FP than the rest of the group ![]()
Aside from that: Faction for Medics on destroys sucks, faction in PvP sucks more.
