I just spent the weekend running missions and making credits so that I could buy a nice set of armor. I am playing towards a Combat Medic/Rifleman character, and I didn't realize that it was the sub attributes that get encumbered by armor, so my question remeains, did I just blow 40K for no good reason, or is the protection that I am getting going to be worth the lowered regeneration rate of my mind pool

I wear a full set of chitin without the helmet...

the helmet is the main killer of the mind pool...

so i tend to go helmetless. The lower action and health stats i can deal with via buffs, heals and whatnot...

my advice is to go helmetless...that way you can keep most of your mind stats unencumbered

Hey Elenora, just curious - I know you PvP. Do you wear a helmet during PvP to avoid being one-shot in the head?

I put on the leather bustier and skirt when I'm feeling silly/trying to drum up tips, a plain black dress when I'm feeling official, and a cloak when feeling gloomy or antisocial. I probably take many trips to the cloning center in the name of fashion, but they'd have to make armor look a hell of a lot better to get me into it!

No i go sans helmet during PvP unless im soloing PvP which i do sometimes...otherwise i'm thinking i should be healing and not worrying about my mind...

besides when im in a crowd healing, i rarely get targeted for sniper shots...

something about being a zabrek with 1000 min and 600 willpower scares off snipers...

could also be snipers know I will most likely just equlibrum to heal my mind in a pinch and be on them before they can kill me...

Makes sense. I used to get away with that, but I get recognized a lot now for being a Medic. I tend to think that if you're straight-up healing (and in group PvP, that's what you'll be doing) that a wall is much better protection than a helmet...heh. Sometimes I wish I'd gone Zabrak...

And we LIKE it that way

I've heard Mabari is the best armor for Medics. I have no idea why, but quite a few people have told me that.

Mabari has pretty low encumbrence would be my only guess. It's good against melee though so I don't know how useful it would be in fire fights.

Go with a very well made bone armor helm. Get an armorsmith who has dom arts up to lvl 4to craft it for you. Heck try to get one that can use an advanced bone armor segement in it even. It will be very well made and have the benifit of protecting against blaster fire without to big of a hit on mind.

I dont think ill ever go beyond chitin...i think chitin just looks awesome....and we all know this game is all about eye candy...

which is why i always carry 3 sets of coordinated clothes...which leaves me little room for packs..but who cares..do people xpect me to heal them or something? i just got doctor so i could get M.D. at the end of my name...

Ive found that mixing different armor is the best way to go for medics. Even though your appearance will not be all that great...its the stats that count.

Lets face it all armor sucks in this game so far, with a rating of only 1? I've found to look at the mind encumbrence before purchasing any piece, for this will mean how much it will drag the stat down when worn. So ive made a list of what i found the armor to be the lowest with mind encumbrence and just enough protection.

head = tantrel helm, body = tantrel, arms = chittin biceps, hands = mabari gloves, pants= mabari, feet = tantrel boots.

I strongly suggest you try to track down a master armor designer that can craft these items for you.
