Thread: You are out of range... incapacitated players bug

This bug or whatever it is has been driving me crazy. For those who havent' experienced this, almost every time when a player goes incap, you can be standing on their body targetting them and your target shown at 0m away and you get this "You are out of range..." message when you try to stim them to get them back on their feet. My husband and I play next to each other and I will see his body right at my feet, but on his screen I will be far away from him. Once I move in range on his screen, I can heal, so spamming your stim/heal hotkey and running around in circles usually works eventually, but is not exactly ideal It is hard enough to find people who are down since there is no easy was to find an incapped person (unless I am missing something), but then when I do find them I have to find where they really are.

Just wanted to post this in a seperate thread because I would really like this included in our priority list and wanted to let others get a chance to voice how important they think fixing this bug/issue is. This is my biggest gripe right now.

I had the same problem, I posted on here yesterday, sigh its hard to help someone out who is ncapped with no mind pool, you cant give them a stim, so the only way is the drag them to a safer place. I hope the new medic correspondent can tell the devs about this issue.

Yes, I will vouch for this as well. It's a reoccurring problem. In addition, the delay between the command to use a medicine and the actual use is too long, When players are running around in circles and you have to intersect them to heal them, it isn't executing in time and it misses the heal.

Yes, very annoying. The other side of this coin is when you can still run for a second or two after getting the 'You are incapacitated' message.

I'm positive it has something to do between how frequently/infrequently the client/server updates player locations.

A workaround that works occasionally is going to where their droid is and trying to heal.

I hope they fix this soon because there isn't much more that's as frustrating as having a full pack of meds but not being able to heal someone's Health or Action bars while you're standing on their body..

Uh, so WE don't want it, and YOU don't want it in for PvP--then why is it still there??

we had this same problem in beta. it seems the client would get out of synch with the server and show the pc in one spot and the server is seeing the pc in a different location. only recourse is to start an expanding circle from the pc corpse and spam the stim key. other option is to use autofollow and hope the server takes you to the location and not to where the client see's the corpse.

that is a solution, unfortunately you have to be a cm to use em. too bad we docs can use em. could be a real interesting supply and demand between docs and cm.

yeah it would be nice to have cm on my char but i like my layout as it is.

master doc

novice pistoleer (dx2 cert)

explore 4 (hill climbing)

survey 4 (finding resource spots easier)

you can actually get master doc/master cm but i would have to drop my explore skill and pistol skills in order to get master in both doc/cm.

Alright everyone ready for a solution?

When someone goes down by incapacitation..../dragincapacitatedplayer <target>

This will drag him to you and then it allows you to HEAL him. For some reason there is a graphical bug when the person goes inconscious that makes it appear he is out of range. If you drag him once,,,,problem solved.

Does dragging actually work? I have seen people post that it doesn't, if so, would be a good workaround until they get it fixed. Will have to try it next time I have the opportunity.

I bet people think I am crazy when I run around their body in a circle trying to heal them.
