Thread: Medic effective healers?
And with mind-damage being unhealable, it's questionable how effective you'll be even with these 3 healing trees under your belt.
If you go this route, and take a little artisan (for survey 1) you'll have my exact template.
If you just master medic, you will be able to heal damage fairly efficiently. Wounds will take time. When I was just a master medic, I thought wounds were painfully slow to heal. That's comparing to Doctor.
In firefights, you will be hurting with just master medic. Groups ALWAYS tend to spread out in fights against multiple mobs. This means you have to run around trying to get into healing range. It's very challenging to say the least. Damage comes fast in SWG. You'll be looking at the health-bars of someone 20 meters away, and you'll have to watch them get capped because you simply can't run fast enough to get to them. That's comparing to CM
This is from experience. I stayed at MM for a few days before going CM and Doctor. I did as good as I could, and helped out some, but you just don't have the tools to do a GREAT job as a healer. It's an OK trade-off if you need the skill points elsewhere though.
Either way, mind damage will wipe out your group every time, so you have to balance how much you want to heal, versus how much you can help out just shooting at mobs.
Hope to see you in the med center. for all it's problems, these are all rewarding professions.
I'm kinda having that dilemma now, however what effects me more is the mind damage. I've only grouped once so far, but last night i was outside Coronet watching a Doc help someone fight some aggros. He kept getting beaned in the head, get incap, then the aggro would turn and do the same to the Doc. Who ran off, while I started shooting another aggro that was after them. Sorry I'm rambling.
I have FA IV, Diag II(III is ready to train if I want to.), Pharm IV and Organic IV. Doing Stim C's for healing is great, but so darn varied on how much you heal at any time. They are nice, but I just don't know if I want to do more than IV's in Medic. I have other things I really want to spend it on and I'll have to surrender some skills(Survey II-IV at least, and Scout)eventually, which still won't help me get where I want to be.(I have 90 points left and want to be a DE,and/or start on unarmed so I can get to smuggler. I really don't want Unarmed. Sorry rambling again.)
I'm at a crossroads right now. I may surrender Pharm IV and just leave itat III so I can use the Stim C's.
As everyone moves up, the more healers in a group the better. Someone that can Stim D is always welcome. In big uncontroleld fights, CM's have a definite advantage in healing people that get far away, but if everyone is workign together well, a master medic can do fine.
I was te only healer in a group of 7 on Yavin yesterday.. and I was MM except FAIV using Stim C's(I made FAIV xp as well as novice doc XP doing it).
I wouldn't do that on Endor, but I would with 1-2 other medics in the group.
There are many people stopping at master medic, there are many more taking jsut different branches of medic, and still more only taking novice medic. All of these choices work. SWG is designed that way. Yes someone that takes more skills will be a better healer, you just have to figure out how much you want to do in comparison to other things you want to do.
For damage healing Doc's only have 1 stim more powerful than Master medic, CM's only add AE and range to stims. On a 1 target heal in a group that doesn't wander, mastr medic holds up really well.

If you can tell your group to stay together, as a MM you should be fine healing them. The only thing CM will add is a faster time between healing different people, as it would hopefully get rid of the need for transit time in running between the injured players.
If you can, tell your group NOT to run around constantly if they're under attack, because even if you follow them, you won't be in range to heal with just MM. With Stim C/D and high diagnostics, you should be able to keep the person under attack alive while he and the rest of the group kills whatever is after him, but if he's running all over, he'll still take damage and you won't be able to heal him.
