Thread: Ok I just started the Medic class Sunday and need some help.

Ok so I'm revamping my character because I don't like the direction he is going in. SoI started the medic class and got rid of smuggler (I wasn't very far into it anyway).
When I first started my character back on day one, I started out as a marksman. So attributes are set for them.
Anyway I'm in the hospital trying to gain the XP to skill up and everytime I tend wound I lose 60% of my mind bar and sustain wounds to willpower and focus. I'm like wooh that a bug? Also healing damage takes about 20% of mind as well.
Now I'm not sure if it is the stimpacks causing this or my attributes are doing this. My stat for mind is only 700 but my focus and willpower are all maxed out for a wookie. I'm waiting for the stat migration to reset and then I will change a few because I am also going for TKA and CH. I already started the CH.
So again, is it the stimpacks taking away so much from my mind stat and causing wounds to my willpower and focus? If not what is a could stat mark for the mind attribute?
Also I have another question. I just now thought about this. I tried to heal this one guy and I got the message you don't want heal this type of person. I'm guessing that is a faction thing.

/tendwound is an ability gain by the novice medic. It allows you to heal the black bars without medicine but at a high mind cost.
/healwound is better but you will need to have medicine (wound packs) available.
The prefered way to practicing medicine is to first craft stim A's (schematic is gained with novice medic) and use them on entertainers in the cantina or fellow group members in a hunting party.
Crafting will give you medical crafting xp while healing will give you medical xp.
When you have enough medical crafting xp, train up in organic chemistry so you can craft the wound packs.
The message you get about it will be unwise to help such a person is because they are of the opposite faction.
Healing yourself does not give medical xp. You will need to heal others.

However the heal damage to others seems not to be working for me. I was on Lok last night and healed someone's damage. I had just gotten First Aid 1 and am ready to get Organic 1. However when I checked my XP for medical it showed that I was still at 26 after healing at least 500+ points of damage.

when you heal other, you should see a system message telling you the amount you healed and the xp you received. if you do see it on screen but just in your skills window, i would guess its probably server lag. in any case, you are doing the right thing and should be getting the medical xp.
