Thread: Medics get no XP during raids

I used to enjoy raids.

My guildies would send in the pets and commence with the beatdown. It was my job to revive people who attracted attention and heal the pets. This was obviously very nice XP.

Now when I go to a raid, I get basically no medical XP at all. I can go through 90 charges of stim-D's and get 0 XP for it.

If this is going to be the way it is, and the devs say it is, then I'm sorry but they need to nerf creature handlers a lot more, or else buff up the brawler classes more. We need to make pets not be tanks anymore or else medics are screwed for any raid type event.

Brawlers just aren't good enough to be main tanks, not compared to a pet with over 10k HAM, so consequently there's not many of them high ranking in the game.

Which basically means medics are up the proverbial body of water with no visible means of locomotion.

If we only get XP from healing players, fine, but you need to buff said players so they can do some real tanking. I haven't seen a player yet that can tank a kimo for us.

Medical XP is a newbie thing. Soon you won't need any more of it. Anyway raids are generally for achieving common goals, not getting XP.

Uh, yeah, a newbie thing, because you can SOAR to firstaid and diag 4 in minutes! And you dont need ANY medical experience to be a DOCTOR or COMBAT MEDIC do ya? Jesus, how can you say medic experience is a newbie thing, and still consider yourself semi-intelligent, or reasonably literate?

Obvious solution to the problem.

Don't Heal Pets. Ever.

And when all the pets keep dying, over and over. The CH's will whine, and they'll fix it.

It's a CH world baby, just have to know how to live in it.

(Not a CH)

What do you get when 2500 crack addicted monkies pound mindlessly on keyboards? SWG: Pet Wars.

Medic XP is a newbie thing because you used to get tons of it healing pets. Saying "soon you won't need any of it" is ignorance -- our #1 source of medical XP was just canceled.

Pecos you aren't SUPPOSED to be able to Tank a Kimo K? No matter what class.

Uh, if no class is supposed to tank a kimo, what IS going to tank a kimo? A pet, duh. Now, if this were another game, the high-end brawlers would be buff enough to tank those kimos (and live long enough to actually BE healed), but its not, and HAMs are as high as a newb as a master BH, which means that you need a CH to take on a big mob.

Kimos are there as the ultimate PvE challenge for large, high level, organisedgroups. A buffedTank with spices and food can get up to and over 3K HAM. That can be healed. Big groups who know what they are doing can do it easily (some would argue too easily) anyway.

Kimo's were never meant to be zerged. You are supposed to use tactics and all facilities in the game to beat them.

This, is of course, my opinion.

Because youcan soar to firstaid and diag 4 in a few hours of gameplay. It took me 3 weeks to reach Master Doctor and other people have done it in less than two. This game is about months and years, not weeks.

Medical XP is a newbie thing. If you can't find enough of it, you're playing badly.

Just as a note:

3k in health/action will not be enough to be healed against high end mobs. Krayts will do 5000 damage in one hit. I assume Kimogilas are the same. The fact is, to do high end mob hunting, either for the resources or drops, you need pets if you hope to survive.

In good organized PvE groups, youwillget hardlyany med xp. PvP on the other hand is a great place to get med xp, if you can stay alive long enough.

For now, it seems the best place for med xp is in the hospitals andcantinas. (or you can heal duels) Medics in the combat world will find xp harder to attain.

in addition, I don't think it's fair to remove the class defining characteristic of the creature handler profession by removing their sole redeeming quality in a group. Brawlers need a boost, but I doubt they will ever be made into viable tanks against high end mobs.
