Thread: No exp for pets no suprise
Well being a casual player I just noticed the nerf to earning exps from healing pets. At firstI was upset but then realized that this nerf fits with the Devs goal of making SWG playable only by groups. SWG has from day one been a group or your SOL game, The only reason we don't get exp for healing ourselves is to force medics to be sociable and interact with other players. Why do you think you can only do two missions at a time and can heal BF only in town. The devs have set up numerous methods of forcing players back to town, and tobe dependant onother player. So as I just made Master Medic and have no plan to go any further in the medical professions this is one time I have beat the devs to the punch. As for the forced social interaction, well I can't see any reason for me to heal any player or pet in the game, and besidesI will enjoyturning my back on the devs desire to force me to group play.
For those of your whom enjoy group play, rock on and I wish you the best, but there are those of us out here whom just want to play the game solo or with a group when we choose, but really hate having group play shoved down our throats.
There are many wonderful and rewarding ways to play a online game. I respect those that want to group and hold no ill will towards them or their play style. I do however have little respect for game dev that try to manipulate players into playing the game the way they would play it.
Great points.
I just recently made Combat Medic and am about halfway through the Combat Medic tree. I was very shocked, but not surprised, about the pet xp being nerfed. The least they can do is give us an explanation. I have not seenone anywhere, have you?
I mean I do like playing in groups(small - 5 at most) but do like soloing a lot as well. It's hard getting xp w/out a group, but as you've said you shouldn't be forced to. I usually play w/ a friend who has a nice sludge panther w/ over 7000 HAM points.
And since a pet is more or less an extension of a player and is is only used for one purpose - combat. Why can't we heal them? Makes no sense. Maybe someone, somewhere can shed light on this.
