*Looks at your current skills... looks at skill point cost... shrugs*
I'd say doctor. I've been a doctor, and, providing you can deal with the flaming morons that you will occasionally get, it's pretty good. Don't have any input on CM, but Docs are always welcomed into groups and large scale PvP/PvE.

One of my toons is currently a master doc and master cm...that leaves enough points only to go to level four of either a brawler tree or marksman tree. I plan on dropping CM not b/c I don't like it but I need those points for merchant
and an elite combat prof.

- CM gives the poisons and diseases, great fun - apparently.
- Doc gives buffs, ability to Revive and cure states.
Short answer? CM for offence, Doc for defence.

I'm both and I love them equally. I use my doc skills to buff and cure states and rez when need be, and use my CM skills to keep my friends alive when we are hunting. Area Stim C's are my favorite thing in the world most of the time. I don't PVP, but I have some pretty sick poisons that I use on high end mobs. I'm one of the first people asked to go do any serious hunting of Axkva Min, NS Elders, DWB, or anything else that is slightly dangerous. By far my CM/Doc is my favorite character to play.

Actually, it only leaves enough points for level 4 in a marksmanline (in addition toranged support), or novice brawler and 1 box.

i was both too.
depends on what you want to do really.
each have advantages.
are you in a guild? do they allready have a good doc? then get CM. CM are great in group fight like the DWB and vette. ranged area heals are awesome and as a doc i miss them. the mind heal is underated - because it give you wounds, many CM's do not use it. but if used wisely , you can save your TMK tank from death at the rigth moment.
and of course you got the desises and poisens.
dont get both - you will feel castrated as a combat player.
Doc has all the heals, rez and buff. i kept Doc at the end, becasue i do like soloing a lot, and i can buff myslf in the middle of dath np, etc etc.
whatever you do get GOOD at it, lern all your commands, hotkey the heals, and know your meds.

The most important Combat Medic skills in the game have been overlooked.
Yes, CM's have poison and disease (which is fun) but they also have heal mind and area stims. I am a hunter that loves to go out in groups in order to maximize the number of resources that I collect per lair and I love tossing my area stims out and seeing noob's say, woo what was that??? Mind healingnoob's is cool too because that is a skill that a lot of people dont know about.
On the doc side, you get revive and buffs. You will make a lot more money on the doc side, but you will probably make a lot more friends on the CM side. (You will meet a lot of jerks on the doc side toobecause people run up to you and say buff me now*$%#@.)
Because of this, I went CM. (I am poor now though)

Go Doc first regardless. If you want to eventually go CM,use the xp you gain from buffing as a Doc. I was able to master CM in about 2 hours from buffing.

For what you get for the skill points spent, doctor is a much better choise. However combat medic has unique abilities I personally enjoy.
