Thread: Fun Ideas

I know this really ought to be in the doctor forum, but I like these boards SO much better.

1.) I've read some other people's ideas about cyborgs and cybernetics and whatnot, but not in a way that I think the game developers would actually consider including. Not that my upcoming idea is that much more likely to be implemented, but it's far less radical than the others ideas I've seen.

With the upcoming "nerf" (I hate to use that term) on doctor buffs, I think that doctors could possibly use another ability to take its place. Anyway, I figure that putting in some kind of cybernetic implant would be okay. What would it actually do? The implant would allow the patient to distribute stat points beyond the min/max values for his or her character. Perhaps one implant per unrestricted stat.

For example, if I got an implant in my arm, I would be able to redistribute my strength stat as I please.
I'm not saying that the patient would get any NEW stat points, he just wouldn't be as restricted. So if some guy wanted to be a brainiac, he could set up an appointment with a brain surgeon, fork over a couple dozen G's for parts and labor (perhaps bio-engineers and regualr engineers would have to work together to make these implants?), and later go to an image designer to put a whole bunch of stat points into his mind, focus or willpower at a cost to his health and action stats.

To avoid having to make new art, we can just say that the doctor covers the whole chunk of metal with flesh, and is good enough to avoid leaving scars and blemishes. And you could balance the thing as you see fit - perhaps only a certain number of implants per person so that the character's race would still matter.

2.) Allow a doctor to specialize in a certain race. His or her wound healing, damage healing, buffs, disease cures, poison cures, etc. are more effective on the race of his or her specialty. Perhaps such a doctor would be able to temporarily enhance his specialty race's special abilities.
Or put some lesser forms of specializations in so that medics can distinguish themselves?

I know most ideas will get nowhere, but I enjoy discussing ideas just for fun.
