I'm a master medic and I decided to try some medical foraging and realized how worthless it is. You will get 1 unit, yes 1 little tiny unit about once every 15 seconds. Could we atleast get an equal amount as someone would with surveying skills. Not to mention they are random so that the odds of finding a a unit of the same type is rare. So getting enough for me to actually craft something would take a very long time.

All i'd like to see is make the skill a viable option. So that maybe you get as much resources as a medium harvester would get. *shrug* I just hate seeing worthless skills.

Take up Artisan. At least you get both organic and inorganic that way.

Yes we know, if you look at the list of the Top 5 issues, it's on there. Has been for quite some time.

*edit* Ok my bad, I looked at the Top 5 and it's no longer there. When did that happen? Anyhow, it's still a known issue.

Top 5 is being redone due to most of our top 5 issues being resolved.

I don't think Medical Foraging has ever served it's purpose of allowing Medics to collect resources for making the lower end medicines. It is almost impossible to gather eight units of the same type of resource for a Stim A or Wound Pack A, and the resources we do get are usually of the lowest quality (I haven't used the skill in a while, though, so I may be wrong).

I think the best solution a player can use is to pick up Novice Artisan and perhaps a few boxes in the surveying line. This lets you pick up organics, inorganics and even water for those dratted liquid suspensions that Stimpack Bs need for some reason. This has the added benefit of allowing you to survey for spots for your own harvestors, rather than having to buy the placements from an Artisan everytime you need some materials. It's also nice to power your own factories, if you have the money for it. The medical forage issue is obviously not of a high priority with the devs, so I doubt they'd do anyhting to sort it out this side of 2010.

Medical foraging has been nerfed since the beginning of time (also known as beta). I honestly do not anticipate it getting fixed...ever.

Perhaps they just need to get rid of this useless skill and quit teasing the new medics with it.

Medical Foraging was added in beta 'cos the devs thought it might help something somehow. It didn't, and so it was just left there. It's not meant for anything now, since you can usually buy organics pretty cheaply or just get novice artisan and harvest them yourself, so the Devs ignore it.

when did we get out of beta?

Bug fixes. Heh! Smuggling. Heh! A Jedi craves not these things.

My SWG Observations

If they stopped the expansions for one year and gave quality revamps to the professions that need it most, many people would resubscribe.
With all the resubs, and the new players, there would then be plenty of money to hire enough people to do 2-4 quality revamps per year plus 1-2 larger expansions per year and/or 2-4 smaller expansions per year, and not give the BigWigs a pay cut. (Possibly even an increase)

Well, I've scoured the galaxie for Lokian Wild Wheat and all I've come up with is domesticated. So, I went to Lok and tried to medical forage the stuff myself. In one hour's time, I came up with 2 units. If it's such a necessary component for my advanced Biological controller, why is it not such a common item?

Because you're meant to use Artisan survey skills to retrieve it, not /medicalForage. Medical forage was put in during beta to solve a particaluar problem of resource availability for medics when stimpack A's only required 3 units of each. Since launch it has because the place of Artisans and Scouts/Rangers to obtain the necessary resources to crafting medical items, just like it is for every other crafting profession. Take up Artisan, or hire someone to collect them for you.

Im with you, what IS the point in medical forage since you only get 1 unit, and the quality mostly isn't good.so they need to improve medical use or get rid of it is what i say,cuz what about novice medics, some people can't afford recources.

I remember that awhile ago somebody posted a idea for medical forage; that instead of foraging actual resources, you instead harvest certain types of herbs that can be implemented into stims, and or chemical release/biological effects/solid deliveries/ and it will increase their stats barely. I thought this was a great idea. But what do I know. I just wanted to throw that out there again.
