Thread: Charging for healing: Challenges and Expectations

I'm thinking of running an experiment. To help out the profession as a whole, I'm going to charge a fee for wound healing IN CITIES. After diagnosis, I'll put up the price estimate, time estimate, (I generally don't use havla or bivoli, unless there is siginificant need) and ask for the money up front. And maybe afterwards, I'll remind them if a medic heals 'em and doesn't set a price, they should tip anyways.

By doing this, I'll be risking my character's reputation. I'm sure I'll come off as a jerk to some:
Him/Her: "come on good exp!"
Me: "I don't need experience."

So I'm hoping that something will be done to help us out after the combat revamp. But for now, this is the only option I can think of. Anybody else have suggestions on how to approach this? Should I change my plans entirely, or slightly tweak it, or is it fine as is? Should I encourage other experienced medics to do the same?

First you have to find people that need wounds healed - those are rare. Then you not only have to find those who want to pay for it, but the ones that escaped the ninja healers at the busy starports. I never heal myself as a master doc because I dont care about wounds - they dont effect my gameplay on either of my characters in a significant fashion. Someone else always ends up healing them.

haha, finding people with wounds is way easier than it used to be, with people dying in space, it's not that hard.

but anways i've found that you can get away with charging 10 credits per wound. i usally round it to the nearest hundred creds (down), just to be easy, and i wont touch anything in the single digits... just not worth wasting the woundpack. when someone comes from space with 300 health wounds and 300 action wounds, that's 6 thousand credits, for 2 or 4 total uses. that's not bad. you'll find that most peopel will pay, just make sure u pay before you heal.
