Hi, I'm a novice medic, steaming towards master medic (hopefully in a few days) and I am looking to buy a medic droid.

I've been reading some stuff on the Droid Engineer forums, but found mostly crafting information and stuff there.

What I really like to know from those using them is how they like them. From what I know they allow you to heal anywhere you want and give you small bonusses. That sounds great to me, cause I could heal in the open fields without being in a camp or in town without being in the medic center. Thus increasing my personal mobility (I've always liked the idea of the travelling medic/doctor).

So how do you like the medic droids you are using?

Are they expensive?

Which type are you using?

I'd love to know all you have to share on this.

There're 2 things to look at ina droid:

Medical module: allows you to heal wounds without camps and hospitals

Private crafting station:allows you to craft and experiment anywhere

R5 is a crafting station, and if you put a medical module in, that's all you need.

However you can also have a mouse droid with 2 chips in that do the same, or a ball droid to do the same .

i was given a droid. and then 2 componets. one was a medical deed of some sort and i cant remeber the name of the 3rd. i know i had to combine all parts to the droid, and then it would store the medical supplies, but i still coudlnt figure out how to make it heal, and i know it didnt act like a crafting station. It was just a mouse droid and I only was given 1 medical crafting componet. i guess i can track down the droid engerinner and see if he figured out whats going on with it.

Here's a bit of advice for when you get a droid. Don't freak when you store him away and its not in your inventory. For some reason they get stored on the screen with all your waypoints not your inventory. I freaked the first time I stored mine and I couldnt find him in my containers anywhere. I thought the system ate him. The strange thing is that when you buy him he will be in your inventory until the first time you call him but after that he moves to the waypoint screen.

Wow, talk about fast replies

I do know medical droids don't "DO" anything, but are more like a portable med center. So they don't heal others or allow non medics to heal, just like a med center.

The crafting station/medical droid combo sounds really interesting though. Ehm, and what do those look like? I mean, if I'm going to get a droid I might as well buy a cool looking one

Well, just to try the principle of a medic droid I bought myself a mouse droid with a medical module.

Bert is now my new assistant outside the med center and the camps and I love it!

Can't wait for the specialised medical droids (for looks mainly since they have the same functionality). But it's cool to have your own portable med center with you.

And he makes those cute sounds

I'd say it's a must have for all travelling medics and doctors.

I still cant use the droid. I release it from the datapad but when I try to heal wounds it says I cant. Does anyone know how to heal with this thing?

As to being unable to heal wounds outside med center with your droid... are you indoors? I've found even with the droid I can't heal wounds indoors but can outdoors.

My beef with the droid is that it follows so far back that it can be an effort just to get him around a corner, such as a med center exit. And forget about stairs and such, he ends up underground with just his name sticking above.

I'm also afraid I'll forget someday and run off with him stuck, or log off without storing him and he'll be lost to me. 5k down the drain.

I originally bought a mouse droid for 3k from a guy I think his name was Maniac in Theed on Naboo. Galaxy Starsider. I just wanted one to check it out, I knew it was WAY overpriced but he had 2 other customer's there buying some too and this wasonly a couple days after launch so he was allowed to overcharge.

Anyway It wasn't everything I was hoping for but it still turned out to be useful andit was fun to play with. I like the beeps it makes and i would set up patrol points to have it patrol circles around the inside of the hospital. You can name him, it's great.

He doesn't healFOR me but having him nearby allows me to heal wounds of others anywhere in town. For instance I find him most useful healing innocent by-standers while waiting for a shuttle.

To my dissapointment it seems droids CANNOT be pulled out while outside of a town or outside of a camp or outside of your house.Pulling them out in a camp seems a bit worthless since you can heal anyway. But as the example above shows there are places in town you might want to heal other than a hospital.

No you CAN'T use it in a cantina. That would be too perfect.

The mouse droid didn't move very fast so if I ran through town I lost him quickly which prompted me to purchase my 2nd droid which was a DZ-something or other droid, they floating sphere type.

I got a medical chip in this one so same story I can heal anywhere in town and now this guy can keep up with me when I run. Apparently this guy can attack too you can bring him outside of town as long as you call him while in town and then leave with him still out. You cango fight with him but the one I have gets killed in one shot.. I have to go back to town or a camp and pull him out again so I just stopped using him to fight.

I setup my DZ to patrol the hospital now and he keeps me company when the hospital is empty.

Now that DZ-thingie type droid is the one I'm shooting for next. I love my mousie, but the floating type would be perfect.

I'm a Novice Doctor on Chilastra.

I have an R5 with a med module installed in it and previous posts have said that an R5 is also a crafting station. I have not found this to be true. Is this actually the case? Do I just have to wait for someone to put a med mod and a food crafting mod in a droid and then buy one?

Let me know.
