Ok, so if I pick a side how does affect who I can heal .

If I'm overt I can only heal other overt players ?

If I'm covert I can heal who ??

If I stay neutral I can heal who ??

Ok, I'm not completely positive of this, but I'm pretty sure this is hwo it works:

1) You are overt: You can heal only other covert and overt faction members.

2) You are covert: You can heal covert and overt faction members, neutrals and covert enemy faction members (I'm not too certain on that last one, though)

3) You are Neutral: You can heal neutrals and any covert faction members, but not overts.

hmm just a comment on #3. If you are neutral and in a group with people who has, for example, Imperial faction, you can't heal them if they are attacking the rebels. Not sure if that's a bug, but that's what happened to me.

So far my experience has been:

As a neutral, you can heal any neutral and any covert if the covert is nor flagged with a TEF. You may not heal overts. (Although, I have been able to occationally heal overts of both sides when I was neutral. It may be on a timer system, so you can heal an overt if they haven't done any faction combat for a while. I'm not sure if this is a bug or part of the game.)

As a covert, you can heal neutrals and coverts of both faction if the covert is not flagged with a TEF. If you heal a overt or a covert who is flagged, you will be flagged with a TEF and be open to attack by enemy overts. (Similarly, as a covert, I have healed enemy faction overts...bug or part of game?)

If you are overt, you can heal any neutrals and same faction players, covert or overt. You can also heal covert enemy factions who are unflagged. (lol for obvious reason, I.E. i'm killing them, I have never tried to heal a enemy overt while being overt.)

Hence if you have yet to declare a side and are neutral and you are grped with people doing a faction mission, you will be unable to heal them.

I have also noticed that sometimes duels will make it so I can't heal despite faction standing...anyone else experience this problem?

Has anyone run into the bug ( Im guessing its a bug) where in the middle of a fight you can't heal a group member and it tells you "it would be unwise to heal this person"? Ive run into it twice now. After a bit of time Im suddenly able to heal them again. Its quite annoying.

Its not a bug...its the TEF kicking in...

Are you neutral or with a faction? If you are neutral then you cant heal them if they get flagged witha TEF. If you are in the same faction, then you should have no problem healing them...

Im neutral. I'm sure this is off topic but whats the TEF and why does it change who I can heal when for instance - we do 3 missions:

Mission 1) I heal the person fine

Mission 2) Hmm I cant heal him because its unwise.

We camp and heal for a bit then

Mission 3) I can heal him again.

I forget what TEF is short for. Something like Temporary something-that-starts-with E Flag. Its a flag that coverts get for attacking a enemy faction npc, healing an overt or various other faction related actions.

So mission 1) probably a normal destroy im assuming healing no problem

mission 2) either it was a faction mission, or the guy u healed was attacking a faction guy. cant heal..

Mission 3) TEF is gone so you can heal again.

TEF is about 10 mins in duration I think...
