Thread: Useful in-combat macros for medics
Hi there! Thought I'dtell you 2 macros I use that make my life much easier when healing others in a combat situation. I have these on my hotbar.
To use them just select the person to heal, then click the button or press the function key for the macro.
Macro1 - Use this when your target for healingis a shortdistance away:
This macro makes you leave combat, auto-follow the target, heal them (after a pause) then start attacking their target after you have healed!
/peace,
/follow,
/pause 3, (I find 3 seconds is fine unless the target is a fair distance away)
/healDamage,
/assist,
Macro 2 - Use when you are standing next to the target for healing(same as above but no pause).
/peace,
/follow,
/healDamage,
/assist,
I find these VERY useful. It also means you get combat XP whilst you are healing the team, due to the /assist command.
Last thing, you need to turn your music off when you use these otherwise your music gets frantic with the constant change from peace to attack.
Enjoy.
I still think these are too slow in most cases, too fast in others. You can shoot while running, so why /peace before /follow? You don't want an extra 3 seconds in your macro if the person is right next to you - they might die in the meantime. And you want more than 3 seconds if the person is a rifle user. So I suggest two hotkeys ... one for /follow and another for /peace; /healdamage; /assist
Thanks for comments.
Regarding the /peace: I remember healDamage having a verynoticeable delay when you are in combat (you can't heal until the timer for the shot you have made hasrun out), by using /peace you remove this delay, which equalsless delay before the first heal kicks in (I notice zero delay). But I'll try this again to double-check.
Just to clarify (think you'vemixed these up), the 1st macro is to be used when the target is a distance away (hence the 3 second delay). The 2nd macro is to be used when you are next to the target hence NO delay.
I see your point abouthealing people areasonable distance away but in these cases you can always just click the macro twice or have a 3rd macro with a 5 or 6 second delay.
I posted these as I use these all the time, always receive excellent feedback on speed of heals AND gain plenty of xp myself for combat and healing, ALL by only having to click one button depending on the situation.
Try them.
Well, I must be totally broken than, because my /follow command WILL NOT turn to face anyone, it simply moves me forward when ever they are moving, so I can't use that to close with my target.
Also /healdamage more often than not gives me a "No valid medication found." error messages. Even if my main pack is full of StimKits.
Because of these two problems I simply manually heal all the time. I have the first 4 slots on my quickbar loaded with C/B stimkits and the next four with A kits, just click the /peace icon, run over and heal.
Healing while in combat is so slow that it's downright dangerous.
I REALLY wish combat groups were set up so that I could play my Doctor as the healer she's supposed to be, instead of trying to spam fire at everything, while trying to fit in heals here or there just to eek out a little faction or a smattering of Combat XP here or there. This "No XP if you didn't do damage" thing is so wrong it's sad.
Here's what I use:
I tell the person not to move. If they start running, I can't heal them.
After that, I just/kneel right next to them, do a /assist, and constatly hit the /healDamage button. As long as they don't move, I can heal every 3 seconds.
>/follow command WILL NOT turn to face anyone
You don't need to face someone to heal them. You just need to be within 6m. And /follow moves you to within 6m every time.
>"No valid medication found." error messages. Even if my main pack is full of StimKits.
Stimpacks in a backpack will not be picked up by /healdamage. They need to be in your inventory. The "no valid medicine found" message appears when you are beyond 6m range because it looks for a Combat Medic ranged stimpack and doesn't find one.

It gets faster as you get more skilled.
