would I now find plenty of medicine, so I could focus on healing instead of foraging?

would I be able to afford it?

would I be playing a profession that is needed and appreciated?

would my client settings (hotkeys and such) be saved when I log out?

are the most horrible bugs (lost my stuff/character, rollbacks, server full, high lag) all worked out now?

I ask because Ihaven't played since the first week. I mentioned in the main discussion thread how frustrated I was, and holo said that it was just too early. Soon factories would be spitting out crates of medicine, and I could just focus on healing people, which is all I really want to do. Has that time arrived yet?

Thanks for your time,

Pell

We're talking about "soon" in mmog terms- moving at a glacial pace.

Well, here's my take...

>> would I now find plenty of medicine, so I could focus on healing instead of foraging?

I've noticed that a good amount of basic medicines are available on the bazaar, so generally yes.

>> would I be able to afford it?

If you're depending on healing asyour onlysource of income... no, probably not. Tipping seems to be getting somewhat better, but I still have about 50% of my patients at the hospital walking out without tipping (cash, resources, goods, *something*). And even as an advanced Novice Medic, I don't think I make enough in tips to outright buy all the meds I burn through. So unless you have another source of income, or are willing to go on delivery missions to make the bulk of your cash, medicines will be budget-straining. *

Yes. (The "appreciated" part might be debated by some, I imagine, but like the tipping, it seems to be getting better over time.)

>> would my client settings (hotkeys and such) be saved when I log out?

I've never messed with changing the key mapping, so I wouldn't know about that... but I've got multiple customized toolbars, and they're all okay between logins.

>> are the most horrible bugs (lost my stuff/character, rollbacks, server full, high lag) all worked out now?

I haven't suffered from any gross bugs like those in a few weeks, so I'd say yes. The game still has a rather high number of bugs, but it's stable. (Well, apart from a couple problems the Gorath server had lately, when they had to take it down for several hours, but I think that's just something to expect every now and again.)

That's my opinion. YMMV.

* (OT) But in fairness to the non-tippers, I don't ask for payment or donations, either up front or after the fact. So these people may not know about tipping, and I'm not helping them any by not mentioning it. Personally, I still don't feel quite right refusing to heal someone, or badgering people for money, so this is how I've decided to handle it for the time being (an idea I got from another thread): generally, I heal first-come, first-serve. But I've just started a good/bad tippers list... when there's a line, the good tippers are going to get bumped automatically to the front of the line, and the bad tippers are going automatically to the back. They'll get their healing, eventually... it'll just take a while. And if they ask why, I'll be happy to tell them... paying customers come first, charity cases second. :-) We'll see if this tac has any long-term effect.

I think there is a lot more medicine available but not up to "crates and crates" yet, and if you happen to start your character on Lowca, I would be happy to sell you meds

Tipping is random for the amounts, though a lot of people don't really know what to tip, but I have found that at least 75% of people I heal in the med center will tip me something. I like to craft, though, so I make my own meds and I even have some harvesters running now too and I run destroy missions occasionally since I am going for combat medic. One thing you could do is go with a brawler/marksman partner on some destroy mission and heal them and get the split of the reward. That could be a decent way to make some money to supplement tips. Oh, and if I travel somewhere, I always pick up 2 delivery missions to new city.

I find myself very needed and appreciated, especially in hunting groups since most others seem to always want to be shooting the mobs, a dedicated healer is greatly appreciated. Most people are appreciative in the med centers also.

They seem to have stomped the hotkey saving bug. I had problems with that bug the first week too, but they fixed it and listed it in one of the patch messages and I haven't seen it since.

I would say the major bugs like you listed are gone, there are still some pretty annoying ones around, but I haven't come across one yet that I haven't been able to fix by logging out. The bug of HAM bars not updating is really a pain, especially for us medics, but I have only had it happen to me once and logging out fixed it and it hasn't cropped up for me again so far.
