Thread: Sub components in crates in a factory
I have a craft n00b question. If I have the all 3 sub components for a stim b in crates, do I need to unpack them to the factory to start produce stim b or can I have them in the crates in the factory?
I find what works best is to always use 2 *FULL* crates of each subcomponent. Using partially full crates has given variable results. Using just one crate often doesn't work at all.
If you want to go with uncrated, you must uncrate in inventory, can't do that in the input hopper.
Usually when I try to make something with crated subcomponents, at least one crate doesn't work, but I have had all three not work or it magically decide to not pull from the crates anymore halfway through making things. Anyway, I usually put the crates and resources in (in the order of the ingrediants needed list, making note of how many subcomponents are in each crate, then start the factory. When I get the "0 items made message" I go see which crates had no components taken out. These are the crates that won't work, then I pull items out of them and put each one in by hand.
Or you can just load the components by hand from the beginning and it should work fine as well.
Even with all the factory bugs, I still love my factory, it will be great when the bugs are all gone.
I can only get one component type to be pulled from a crate. It will even pull that type out of multiple crates for me. The other components I have to load in by hand which is such a pain. As far as I know thers no way to get a item from a crate without it being in your backpack so you have to remove them there and then drag them all to the ingredients hopper. Very frustrating as dragging and dropping for me is my worse skill I cant get it to work but 2 out of 3 attempts.
