Thread: Medics and surveying
I have seen it float around on some of the posts, but I would like to discuss adding the basic survey skill to the medic tree. I would propose that it be added at the master medic level.
This way it wouldn't allow for people picking up novice medic for a bit of additional healing access to also the basic artisan skill. But, would allow Master Medics, Doctors, and Combat Medics to get the resources they require for their proffesion to function. Who also do as much, and arguably more, crafting then an artisan.
As it is currently Doctors and CMs are also virtualy requiered to spend 15 points to pick up novice artisan. Just for the survey skill to get the resources for medicines used in any skill they have. Survey would give them the ability to find the resource they require then plant the harvester they bought from the artisan.
Yes - it would be nice to have the survey skill, but thats just not what a medic is. Granted he NEEDS to survey, but since it is not, in fact, any type of a medical skill it just wouldnt make sense. Its kinda like a bounty hunter wanting medic... just because.
What I would like to see is /medicalforage turned into some type of gimped survey... such as a short range survey with the ability to pick up one of whatever it is your surveying. Now that I could work with.
It is currently number 4 on the list i'm about to present, so the devs will hopefully make some kind of official statement about it.
Personally, I don't like the idea at all... but unless it is struck down by the devs, it is in your top 5 here too, and you all outvote me
