Thread: Stim B's with or without advanced components

Right now I'm a medic 3-2-1-4 on Chimaera. With the resources available I'm able to make about 20-24 Stim B's with power of just under 200.

Although to make Stim B's with advanced subcomponents like the advanced biological controller and such I need various resources that's hard to come by (at least on Chimaera) and will not always be good quality. For instance the Lokian Wild Wheat has OQ of 130ish og PE of 200+.

How will my Stim B's be if I get the (sometimes bad) resources to make the advanced subcomponents. Is it worth the time, effort and money to get it instead of making Stim B's for 200 power?

Thanks for any answers.

Generally, Adv components > non-Adv componets, regardless of the actual quality of the materials. There may be a flux point of where this becomes untrue, but I'm not sure what that is. If you want to find the flux point, just get some mediocre advanced components together (should be fairly cheap to just buy) and use your best non-advanced components and compare the results. But I think you'll find Adv > non-Adv in almost all cases.

My stim B's with just 1 advanced component (aLS 112) came out about ~300 (~30 charges) range. The other components were CRDM 15s and BEC 3/6s, if that helps with your comparisons.

an advanced component with the worst resources will still almost always be AT LEAST as good as a regular component with good resources.

OK, here is what I have seen (with 10 experimentation points) -

Stim-B with regular components, using really good (900+ OQ/PE organic and 900+OQ inorganic) final resources:

200 power/25 charges

An averageALS (using500 OQ/PE berries and 750OQ water) will add 100 power. A excellent one will add 150 power.

An average ABEC (using 500 OQ/PE wheat and 500OQ/UT fiberplast) experimented for charges will add 10 charges. Aexcellent one will add 15-20 charges.

An average ACDRM will add 30 power. An excellent one will add 60 power.

So, adding an average ALS will bump you to 300/25. Adding an average ABEC will bump you to 300/35. Using all excellent advanced components will take you to around 410/40.

What you use is up to you, butI always use ALSs (particularly since it doesn't increase the number of resources required), usually use ABECs (resources fairly common), and rarely use ACDRMs (not worth the hassle in most cases due to expense of getting herbivore meat in bulk) unless it is meds for personal use.

Note that with medic crafting, rather than doctor crafting, the quality of resources makes less difference since you can't experiment everything up to max anyway.
