Ive been wondering for awhile now my friend has 1-1-1-2 in Medic and I have 3-2-2-2 in the same but when using the same wound pack in a med center it costs me about 380 mind points and it only costs my friend about 170 , what am I doing differently ??

It actually depends on your sedondary stats, not your skills. Mind secondaries are Focus andWillpower. The higher your focus, the less mind damage you will take when doingsomething that costs mind, such as healing or a rifle special. The more willpower you have, the faster you will regen after you take mind damage.

So, it sounds like you have a lowerFocus then your friend.
