Thread: Neutral medics pointless in hunting groups?

There was a patch a few months ago that stopped coverts from dragging overt or tef'd factioned members without getting a tef. I know it was applied to neutral medics as well since they can't gain a tef, but since the patch went in neutral medics aren't capable of performing their duties with hunting groups.

As a neutral medic in a hunting group you can't drag covert, non-tef'd players to safety. You can perform all your medic duties but drag. I've heard from others who are even further up in the realm of doctors can't perform drag as well. Since that is the case there is no way anyone can drag a member of their group to safety if that member is a covert rebel or imperial and not tef'd.

If the medic correspondent can get this some attention it would make neutrals feel not so useless. Thanks for hearing me out.

I'm a covert imperial and I've had no problems dragging covert Rebels in combat. And this was just last weekend.

Texxie I don't know how it is for covert rebels or imperials dragging covert members of other factions, but neutrals can't drag covert members of any faction. The drag ability has become useless to us. I had discovered that this problem still existed when I tried to do it earlier this week and I got the message: "It would be unwise to help such a patient."

That is quite strange. Not sure why they'd let opposite factioned coverts drag each other around, yet not Neutrals.

I'll check later tonight with some neutrals in-game I know, see if they have the same issue as you do.

Alright, tested it tonight with some folks.

What I've always done when dragging another player is simply typing /drag. I've never had a problem with that in regards to covert or neutral players.

Had a friend, who is neutral, attempt to drag covert players(reb and imp). He got the "unwise" message when using the pre-made macro thing(none of the coverts were factionally TEFed). He could, however, drag them when he typed out /dragincap.

I didn't get a chance to test out the in-game /drag icon/macro thing to see if I'd get the same 'unwise' message, but will try that out at some point.

But, at any rate, it appears you can still drag them by simply typing out the command.

Thanks Texxie...I'll try that, but you have to admit that's a bit clumsy when you are looking at your group menu making sure no one needs a heal while you type that out. I'll use the work around though.

No prob. And yeah, it is a bit clumsy, but it works.

I'll poke Z about it see if he knows about this or not

No need to poke. I've been reading this, just not certain how to respond and I wanted to see what ya'll came up with anyway. For some reason some other command strickes me as having had a similar problem where the defualt button for it didn;t quite work right. YOu might try to make your own macro with just the command for /dragincap in it and see if that will work as a workaround.

As for hearing about it... yes and no. It's is often brought up and we've seen some issues with it that seemed to indicate it was a TEF issue, but that folks were getting TEFs that were not player-faction based (like some odd reports that nightsisters apparently gave some folks TEFs, for example.) Traigus had some comments on that that I think may be on the issues list, but I don't remember for certain without going back to check.

But it looks like maybe this was the case instead. I'll add it to the bugs list.

The workaround didn't work for me. I got the unwise message again. I should also point out that every hunt I've been on with my neutral character have been animal hunts or kunga (before the patch). If the coding for animals is producing something in the way of tefs I don't know.

Ah...the old NPC Faction issue? Where if someone has, say, high Tusken standing and you don't, you can't heal/etc them? Is that what this is, Z?

If so, I thought it was rectified long ago. If not, it's still an annoying enough bug.

No, it never got fixed. I got a "we'll look into it" on the first medic top 5.. and it kinda went into hiding. It still happens, but not as much as it used to.

I don't think I'm the only one tired of the "We'll look into it" response from the Devs. This is a bug that ruins game play, and I submit a /bug report everytime it happens. I can still heal, buff, cure and rez them, but I can't drag them.
