I have just started an alt who is going to be a doc. Therefore he's started as a novice medic. How on earth is a novice Medic meant to make money, bearing in mind my priority is healing. Fighting etc. is not in my characters line. Ultimatly heading for Master doc and probably something on the entertainer tree to give healing abilities of all types ( and buffs of course ).

Thanks .

A doctor/medic, just as an entertainer is very much dependable on the tips of players that you heal, you can charge money for buffing people for buffs, but as a medic there is little you can do for money except healing people's wounds in a medical centre and hoping they will tip you, but fortunetly, many will....

Thats why you Master a Combat profession first like I did.

If cash ends up beinga problem, I hop into a hunting group and run 20-27k missions as a Teras Kasi Master. =)

You can either get into a good PA that will support your path to MD, or you can use your main to make money for your alt.

Making money as a starter medic is, quite honestly, nearly impossible.

I took up mining as soon as I started my medic alt. Took novice artisan, ran a couple of missions to get some capital, and bought some cheap wind generators and mineral harvesters. Sold product on the bazaar at slightly lower prices than others.

That doubled the money I put into it every day, I pretty much quit at $100k, but could have kept going.

Of course, I knew how to work that having been a Merchant in a previous life. You might find a bit of a learning curve.

There's no good wayto usemedic skills to make money (this obviously changes with doctor).

Fortunately, there are 2 easy ways for anyone to make money -

1) Mining - as mentioned, you can start with BER 4 personals, mine just about anything, sell it to move on the bazaar and make money. The unit cost of harvesting is so low that it's hard not to make money if you know what you are doing (keep up with mantainence, have enough power, keep up with resource shifts, etc).

2) Resell products - Buy a crate of some high-demand product (powerups, Stim Bs, woundpacks, etc) from a low cost seller and resell individual units on the bazaar. It's probably best to clear this with the merchant first (to be polite as some will frown on this), though it's not strictly necessary.

Actually, you can often do this entirely on the bazaar. My Merchant ran out of an item he normally stocks on the bazaar in single units, and I was concerned that customers might be disappointed. I found a case of a similar (not as good) item on the bazaar in the same city for a remarkably low price, and bought it. I puta fewsingle units up at the same price I had bought the wholecase for, and all of them sold within 24 hours!

This indicated several things to me:

  • Case sales are badly inhibited by their placement on the bazaar (under misc/factory crates). Few buyers look there and there are great bargains to be found. (Case lots should be listed with singles.)

  • There is a lot of demand for some items (no, I am not telling here) at remarkably high prices. I really knew that already, since my merchant does not sell cheap.

  • Repackaging, or just buying and re-pricing, goods can be a profitable activity for any newbie

Maybe I should print up instructions on how to do this and sell them on ebay for $9.95 a copy, LOL.

And SOE wonders why the economy is so bad

Find some newbies running missions and group with them.

Thanks for the tips. I have managed to get to novice doc now and made just enough money to do the job. Didn't think of the resource sales bit ( which is a bit daft as my main is a ex-architect, ex-master artisan, master BE ) prolly because it's in a non-medical skill which of course is where I was looking. The way I actually got going initially was to do a few dozen delivery missions - the 70cr quickie ones - which actually generate reasonable funds to get resources for stim production. I also sampled stuff, I am bit reluctant to go into the miner line just yet although it's an option ( would use a mineral to get radio in perference to a wind genny though due to the higher power, greater popularity and generall higher concentrations ), as I found a couple of nice quality resources near where I was which I put into stims.

Then the rest of my money which went onto getting master medic was from a few hunts I managed to support. Cost prolly 20K to get to master medic all told and did it in 3 evenings so not bad really in the end.
