I know im a moron...but im just starting out and I picked up the medical skill (started as marksman) and im wondering how on earth I go about working this...I strangely cant find much info on it anywhere else...

my food and chemical crafting tool schematic...whats that all about? and it says something about needing a generic crafting tool?

other than that how exactly do I go about getting medcine...or working the skill...all I have figured out so far is how to diagnose and forage...anything else tells me I need medicine

I also bought a mini med bot for 200... Im not sure what this thing is all about...all it is is some little tiny thing...nothing like the surgical droids I saw...but its all that was for sale...can I really make this thing heal?

keep in mind I JUST started playing and its all a lot to take it...I greatly appreciateany help

Right-e-o

The Food and Chemical Crafting tool will enable you to make items to use for healing people. If you have the generic crafting tool in you inventory (CTRL+I) bring up the radial menu on it and selet use.

This will open your crafting session (where you make stuff) along the top there are various menu tabs like generic, food, clothing, weapons etc. click on generic, and you will see a list of all the items you can make with your new generic crafting too (GCT)

Select Food and Chemical Crafting Tool (FCCT) and then click on NEXT.

This will take you to the next stage where you decide what materials you want to use to make the FCCT. If you do not have enough material you will have to buy some either from a friendly Artisan or the Bazaa.

Drag the materials into the middle section and drop them in the respective componant sections. It will not allow you to put the wrong material in.

Once you have assigned all the materials click on next, then next and then next again (I think) this will start making your FCCT, once this has finnished it will appear in your inventory (CTRL+I)

With this FCCT you can craft, exactly the same as above to make medical suppiles etc. When using the FCCT from your inventory you will see an addtion tab called chemicals, this lists your medical schematics (instructions to the crafting tool on how to make an item).

I hope this has helped, sorry if it is confusing.

A good way to get some healing Experience (XP) is by going toa cantina, and healing the entertainers there. When they play music and dance they get tired, you can help by increasing their energy levels (the green bar in the HAM)

Click once on the entertainer to select them, then type /tenddamage this will give them more stamina and give you XP.

Read the Medic Guide stickied to the top of the forum. It will answer a lot of your questions.

Ok Im also a newbie medic. Ive tried going into the cantinas and healing the dancers many times. I use /tenddamage as stated above. Problem is I get no XP. I raise the dancersaction but get no XP for it. Question is, what am I doing wrong? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am a little confused.

Nope, that is a valid question. The post was actually wrong about that. You do not get xp for using /tenddamage, you do get xp for using /tendwound.

If you want to get xp for healing entertainers in the cantina, you need to first craft some Stim A's. These are required in order to heal someones damage. Each one that you create has around 12 charges and can heal around 50 damage (This varies depending on how good the resources you use to create them).

When I first started out I sat in the medcenter and did /tendwounds on people that came in (BTW when you do this it causes mind damage to you), then I went to the cantina after a while and let them heal you. If you were really smart you could bust out some stims and heal them while they heal you.

You don't NEED Stimpacks for healing. You need to heal with Stimpacks to gain XP. If you heal just using the /tenddamage command it uses more Mind points and doesn't give you XP. However, if you heal damage with a Stimpack, you get experience and it uses fewer Mind points.
