Thread: heres a question, How do you get med xp!
I'm with ya Panzer. how in Hades do you get XP now SOE?
So far I like everything else about the CU, just can't get med XP.
Here is what I have figured out, though why, I don't know.
Last night, grouped with people for overall lvl of 64, killing creatures of approx. same lvl. I started with Medic 0100.
I got about 4k med xp per kill, so long as I was healing DURING combat, which is difficult because when healing during combat, it would put ME in combat and it's difficult to keep healing people when the creatures continually attack the healer. I would not see med xp for each time I healed, only when the creature being attacked at that time was dead. If the creatures killed were too high in lvl or too low in lvl, I received only 1 med xp after the kill. I had to heal while target was in combat to receive med xp.
Later that night, add'l person joined group, increasing overall lvl to 75. So long as we kept our missions to the same approximate lvl, when they attacked and I healed, I received med xp of about 4k.
I ended the night with 0400 medic and enough med xp to get novice CM. At each lvl, it 'seemed' the overall xp per kill did not vary much (~4k).
If I figure anything else out, I'll be sure to post. Look like this might have to be our instruction book for a while. ![]()
Other things I'd like to figure out:
wound healing? does it happen anymore by 'medic' profession?
why must the animals aggro me when I am healing, not attacking? so much for the notion of being a 'pure healer'.

You have the basics here, I'll just expand on them a bit:
Yes, the person you heal (also includes yourself) has to be in combat for you to get medical xp.
You only gain medical xp when the creature is killed, not for each heal.
The amount of medical xp you get per creature is based on two things. Medical xp and weapons xp come from one general xp pool that is determined by your and the creature's level and can be modified by the inspiration buffs, it is not determined by the amount of damage or healing you do. The ratio of med xp to weapons xp is equal or nearly equal to the ratio of healing compared to the amount of damage done by the weapon. So, to get the most medical xp, don't attack the creature at all. It also means that if you heal a person once, and do not attack the creature, you will get full medical xp for the creature.
As for your other questions, the ability needed to heal wounds is first available at novice doctor, so no mere medic will be able to heal wounds. The reason creatures attack you when you are healing others is because each point of healing is considered by the mob to be a point of damage done to it. The more the heal, the more likely you'll get the agro of the person you are healing.
I hope this clear things up.
