Thread: just a stepping stone
i genuinely ENJOYED the Medcenter being the 'other' cantina
i miss the social interaction and the ability to help others by wound healing...
Agree medic is too weak to be anything but a stepping stone.
Stims are more powerful, and can heal even more in 1 shot than a master doc.
I used to have at least 4000 medic pre CU however now medic is useless compared to a stim D.

Every other novice profession acts as a "stepping stone." I contend that the brawler, marksman, and artisan professions are just as weak as medic when considered by themselves. And then there's entertainer, which is in a whole other league of non-utility.
I understand what it is you are saying here to a point...but take a look at what adding Master Marksman does to the elite skills above it compaired to what adding Master Medic adds to Doc or CM. Better yet look at the number of Melee professions that add Master Brawler to their template....
now find out how many spend the skill points to master Medic...

I am impressed that the medical center was a social hub for you. On the galaxies I've seen, the medcenters were innear-desertion long before the CU hit. You cannot blame the CU for the empty medical centers. I too enjoyed wound healing in the medical center, but it was never as hoppin' as the cantina. I picked up novice doctor again just so I could continue healing wounds.
RIGHT up until the CU the Medcenters on Bloodifn were always full. granted a portion of those people were "grinding" XP with Macro Tumblers...but no all of us were there for that.

My personal opinion is that "the agro problem of healing" is not a problem at all. It is the AI acting in a smart manner. By healing, you are a very real threat - it's as simple as that.The logic of 'healers do not cause damage, therefore they should not be attacked' is faulty.
Have you gone into combat and healed? Bacta Spray is a STRONGER TAUNT than ANY taunt ANY of the Melee professions have. Taunt is DESIGNED to draw agro, yet it does not draw NEAR the agro of healing. THIS is a PROBLEM. the agro needs to be adjusted. not removed, but adjusted. healing needs to be LESS effective at drawing agro than the taunt skills. - and oh yes...my healer DOES cause damage... lots of itthat is why i am a MCM / MBH
However, there are a few things I agree with as well. I think wound healing should be brought back to medics, either at master or in the medical augmentation tree. I think the hate system should be tweaked a little to give healers some slack. And there are plenty more issues that I will not mention here.

so i stand by my original post. Master Medic (and yes, master entertainer) does NOT provide the benifit of the other Master Novice professions. (check out the schematics at Master Artisan, Check out the Terrain Negotiation, Creature to Hit Bounus and other goodies at Master Scout, i already covered Master Brawler and Master Marksman)
as i said, i was proud to be a Master Medic, and i LIKED what i could do at the time. times have changed and Medic is just a stepping stone....that saddens me
