How come every doctor I meet is poor? Seems like it is because they have to rely on tips. In the little bit of medic skills I have used, the vast majority of players do not tip for healing - they don't even try to provide raw materials to craft medpacks/stimpacks.

The current system forces the medic (or doctor) to trust that they will be tipped after the healing has been applied. I would like to add a feature to the system that would allow healing to be sold/billed as it is applied.

In a med center, a medic should be able to register with some NPC or station to be on-duty. When they register as on-duty, they should be able to set their rates of credits per damage point healed and credits per wound point healed (should be able to have different rates). Then, when they heal a patient, the patient should get a popup that informs them of the amount of healing and the cost - if the patient accepts, then they are healed and that amount of money is transferred to the medic. If they decline, then the medic doesn't use the charge on the stim/medpack.

Medics automatically un-register (go off-duty) if they go outside the med center.

If a medic doesn't want to charge, they don't have to register. Whenever they are not registered, healing works like it does now.

I made 20k or more today applying buffs (I didn't really count). I made 9k selling stim Bs. I got tips, for just the few minutes I was in the med center...probably 2k or so.

I'm not poor, I do better than most of the people I hang out with. Buffing is easy, easy money, and it's something you can start doing just as soon as you hit doctor.

I don't want to knock potential solutions to this issue, but I personally...don't think there is an issue. Perhaps not all medics/doctors have received the kind of tips I have, but once you get to doctor, there's just no reason to be poor at all, if you do your job well and hang around town enough with your "doctor" tag on.

I've never harvested a single resource with this character, either. So I don't rely on resource selling to support myself, just pure doctor stuff. (Don't do missions except when I feel like it.)

Gimfalisette,

That is really good to hear. Are you able to find all the specific items needed for advanced crafting, if you look on the bazaar long enough, or do you find resouce gatherers, or do you have a guild supplying you?

I have no problem making money both with buffs and with selling stims and excess resources. It does mean I have to be part buisness man to keep the sales moving but it also means when I need xp I can go to the cantina/med center and heal and not worry about getting tips and I am still able to get any equipment I need or want.

i agree, i have had no problems at all money wise.
I'm not rich, no. But i get by easily. Also, where are you healing?
If you're trying to heal on Rori or Talus, you probably will be struggling.

Go to Bestine (tat) or Anchorhead, believe me, Imps and Reb's active in the war will be very thankful for heals and i usually get around 10,000 credits an hour just to heal.

That doesn't sound like much, but it takes like 20 minutes to collect the meat and metals and chemicals i need to heal wounds for several days.

I'm nearly a master medic, and one mistake is DO NOT HARASS your patients for tips. For every guy that blows you off, there will be someone coming along willing to pay. If theres two or more people waiting for heals, just politely mention that tippers get priority, if there's a line to be healed, some one is not going to wait 10 minutes if they can tip 500 credits and get it done immediately.

just a suggestion...

wondering about this myself.
have been running Lok to credits for harvestors and factory.

Will start selling party prescriptions soon.

Assuming I can sell 30x259 stim Bs for 1,000 credits I should be okay.

That might be totally too much and any advice on prices would be appreciated.

Money making for Medical Professionals has always been an issue, and will remain so until some changes are made.

But to say that the current system forces us to rely on tips is simply wrong. No one says you MUST heal other players without payment up front. That is a CHOICE that you make. You can either heal them and hope for a tip afterwards OR tell them your rate and request payment before healing.

And also, to say that most doctors are poor is a bit of an overstatement. As a High Level Doctor, not even master, making money is relatively easy. Advanced Stim-B's and buffs are enough to make any Doc Wealthy enough to afford all the necessities as well as luxury items required to perform your duties.

The real issue is that making money for low-level doctors and medics is hard to do, since they can't compete against Master Doctor Crafters who can craft the best medicines.

Implementation of Medical missions, which would provide credits as well as medical xp, would simply be on step towards assisting low-level doctors and medics. Making stim-As available for anyone to use without having novice medic is another idea. And then, of course, there is the 'registering' idea which you bought forth(and has been suggested in the past).

I have no issues making credits, no other Master Doctor should either. You medics and low-level docs however...I feel your pain.

As far as money goes, all of these ideas work, as far as getting organics to use, the best thing i've done is go hunting. DUH you say??? What i mean is, I offer my services to a hunting party, betting on the fact that almost everyone has novice scout in this game, i ask all people to harvest whatever resource is the best at the time and to give to me so i can replace any and all stims i have and will be using on them while they are getting beat to hell in PvE....just an idea, but it's worked for me

I am a master Doctor/Medic. my only real source of income at first (master medic) was by running missions etc. I then got in the med resource business to support my own habbits. Made some money selling the ingredients, even more so from the bazaar but still had isues breaking 100K cr for long. The REAL money did not start rolling in until I had gathered hundreds of thousands (yes 100K) units of stuff for components went all heavies for extractors and bought 5 factories (little lot sharing). I now make excelent money, like Weaponsmith money or better, from selling Stims, wound packs and Res kits. I sell at realy good prices on Scylla (30+ @ 400+ heal) at less than900 cr per stim by the crate. Most singles at 1K cr.

Until this, zero, ziltch, nada from Med profesion. Med Center is a -negative cash flow building. Resources anyone can get/sell. Hunting parties can be a way to make CR, but CM seems more suited for this. About the only benifit I had was self healing, and Entertainers not being mad when you tip a little less because you kept them healed when you were there.
