What is this tool, is it a public crafting station? Where can I find one/

No, it's not a station, it's a tool. Specifically you are looking for a "Food & Chemical Crafting Tool" instead of the Generic one that you might have. Any Artisan can make one for you if you don't find on one the Bazaar. They should be pretty cheap, but you may wish to look for one with a good "rating" on it. Like +13 or +14.

Not to be nitpicky the artisan needs at least Engineering I to make them thay are pretty good for early Artisan grind. If you use the specialized tool near a public or private crafting station you will be given the ability to experiment with the sub components and the final combie. I highly suggest you become familiar with experimentation it will help you produce better meds.

To experiment do I have to click into the radial of the public/private crafting station first or just be standing beside it?

You just need to be in the vicinity of a crafting station, be it public or private. Then just call up your crafting tool and you will get a section for experimentation.

Nope, just gotta stand near it. If there are other crafting stations close by, you may have to stand very close to it, but no targeting of anything is involved.

thought you had to have it selected as a target? then click the crafting tool

Actually you should have the ability to make the food and chem crafting tool. Check in your generic crafting tool under General I believe.

Lol don't one star me for being truly nitpicky, but you only need Novice Artisan to make a Food/Chem Specialized Tool. I know because they give the most XP when you need a quick grind to Novice Merchant
