I had an Idea one recently when healing poeple at the Tusken fort. What if there was some kind of "State" medics could put themselves into so that mobs ingnore them while we heal. But you can't attack at all just heal. And if your worried about PvP griefs with something like that it could switch off if overt or something like that. Ideas? Good? Bad?

I am afraid that would just get quite dull. I might as well sit in the Cantina and heal entertainers, but my imagination will self-destruct taking my brain with it in a fiery blast if I see one more AFK entertainer macro spamming"Need heal, tips appreciated" every 30 seconds

I almost gave up on Medic based professions because it is so hard to be effective in a group as a novice. But once I got the taste of healing a group in combat, I loved it. The action and danger is what makes it more interesting for me and helps with the immersion. I know if I get close to the front line to heal a tank, I am placing myself in greater danger, and this heightens the excitement for me. If I was immune to threats, what would be the challenge. I could stand under the tortons healing the tank and reading the newspaper. Target player, heal damage. It is like writing instructions for a shampoo bottle. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Not everyone feels that way, but - nobody through eggs now, here it comes - that is where SWG actually did something right. You can become a Master Medic / Doctor without ever leaving town, or even the medical center for that mater.

bad idea IMHO. No class should gert an invulnerability flag, which is basically what are asking for. Also it just makes it way too dull and boring. Grouping and hunting is about team work, part of that team work is your fighters keeping you alive through controlling aggro, just as much as it your job to keep them alive thru healing.

Protecting the doctor when your milk turns sour is one of the few group dynamics left most any player will recognize.

What I want to know is what happened to block?

From the april manual: "The Block command puts you in the blocking state (seen to the right). The blocking state makes your otherwise non-collidable character collidable. This is often used to protect prone ranged combat group members from advancing melee enemies."

I know why they don't want collidable characters but it's stuff like this that could really make group combat more interesting.
