Thread: Questions about mass production...
Do most medics actually buy a factory and use it to produce their stimpacks? I wonder because it seems like SUCH a drawn out process to produce a single stack of Bs, I can only imageing Cs and Ds.
I'd like to buy a factory but I don't know if the cost of running one would make it impractical, which leads me to my second question. How much should I reasonably expect to pay for one?
Third question. Can I use the factory to mass produce the various components by switching the factory from one item then to the next? If so, does the factory package the components in a way that I can effectively transport them? 100 items seems like an awefully lot.
It's all very confusing. Thanks for any help.

Ok, point by point:
1) Yes, I have a factory that helps me produce my stim packs. I use two factories to create all components needed for packs and to create the stims I sell on the market. Poisons/Diseases and ranged packs I tend to make by hand, though using factory created components.
2) Depends on your server. A food/chem factory on Chilastra runs around 30k.
3) Yes you can use a factory like that. The factory will put the components in crates of 50. You then click on the crate to remove an item from the crate for use. Each crate has a volume of 5 regardless of how many items are in the crate. I usually store my factory crates in the output bin of my factory until I need to use them. Saves room in my house and my inventory.

Thank you Tasmen for that fast and informative response. Very helpful. I am now greatly leaning toward buying a factory.
How much does it cost to maintain one on a daily basis? And do I have to sink money into them even when I'm not using them?

At work so I can't tell you the hourly cost of maintaining a factory, but yes you do have to put money into them even when not using them to keep the factory at 100%. The energy you use, however, is only used up when you actually run the factory, though.
