Thread: Proposition about allowing everyone to heal without novice medic but the help of medics/doctors
Let me remind you that you're playing an MMO. Massively Multiplayer Online game. SWG is very reliant on players working together using their differingskills for mutual benefit, and it's only going to get more interdependent in the future. If you don't like relying on other players, what are you doing in an MMO?

What I hate is having to depend on other people to enjoy my gaming experience.

1.- Most Doctors only focusing in making money by buffing, therefore ignoring requests for wound treatments.
2.- It is extremely hard to find a doctor who is not busy buffing that is willing to treat your wounds.
3.- People grinding medic/doctor usually just grind by healing entertainers or tumblers which of course, is much faster than by looking for people who really need healing.
4.- Wound damage has been increased dramatically with the introduction of JTL. Dying in space can give you 100 or 200 wounds damage on your main attributes per death (depending on whether you eject or not. Never understood why you get more damage from ejecting from your ship than by blowing up inside it)
I'm only going to touch on these points. Take it as you will.
1. Most *REAL* Doctors do *not* buff at all. If your actually played the profession, or the game for a while, you should know this. Buffing is not, and never will be "the way" to making money; yes it's ok for a quick buck, but in the long run you lose more money then you make. In most cases those "doctors" (and I use that term loosely) don't even know how to craft! They buy everything. Well I lied....they do know how to craft ABEC's...but only in Practice Mode.
2. Well if you have a profession that people ruin you wouldn't wear your master tag very often either. I would say 95% of *real* Doctors in this game never show it. Why? Simply, because the second we do, we get spammed by 500 people looking for buffs. Umm no.
3. Yes*some* Medics/Docs cheat themselves by using tumblers. There are a few reasons that I think this is happening. A.) People never tip, so why waste the Wound Kits and resources. B.) They don't care enough to actually play the profession. C.) It's far more easy to ignore people then it is to be polite, heal wounds, and not get tipped. And last but not least D.) Players will not wait 5-10 minutes for lowbie medics to actually heal the wounds. "If it's not now; It's not good enough." E.) People don't tip for our services. F.) People think healing is free and don't tip for our services. G.) Oh yeah, people don't tip.
4. Wahh....Tip your healers and you won't have to worry about it. Or don't die. OR get Meditate 4. ORRR Pick up Medic and heal yourself if its that big a deal.
Point is.....If you want Medic spend the 15 points. If you don't want to, get Meditate 4. If you can't tip your healers; otherwise stop complaining.

As a benchmark, take a look at how long you have to play a slitherhorn or dance with Novice Entertainer just to heal yourself of a tiny little bit of BF -- you'll have that 'starwars1' song burned into your brain before longif you don't mute the audio.
Hey, I happen to enjoy playing Starwars 1.
Its my favorite song of all time; and I'm serious, I really like SW1. Now I dont like the Wind insturments, but SW1 sounds awesome with the Mando. ![]()
*hums SW1*
See what I mean? This is exactly my point.. Now poor MyT hereneeds an in-game *psychologist*, not just a Doctor!

Sounds like you knew how the medic community would react before you even asked, huh?

Please, just read the whole proposition before starting to flame. Actually, I am not looking forwards creating a flame war. All I want is your opinion and to see how the medic community feels about this idea.
- Go to a cantina and heal my BF
- Go to a med center
- Sit on a bed
- I type the following on the command line: /afk;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn
- I walk away from my PC and go do what I have to do
What this basically does is allow my toon to heal *at least* 300 points of wounds per stat (so a max of 2700 should I need it). I auto-logout in 90 minutes or so, and the next time I play I have no wounds (it is rare for me to get over 200 wounds in a play session). So it takes no time away from me, and still accomplishes wound healing.
Don't always look for the easy way out. Use the in-game mechanics the way they were intended. It is a MMO - so ask people to help you first, and if that fails use the tactic I described for med centers. Wound healing will never become a problem for you again. ![]()

Sorry - but I'm absolutely against this. If you allow this, then allow everyone to harvest creatures, since even an untrained person can pull a piece of hide, some meat, or some bone. Allow everyone some musician ability, since anyone can at least hum or whistle a tune. Etc., etc., etc. Do you understand the point? If you allow this to happen, where do you draw the line?
I have played a Doc for almost a year now (and have always had at least one toon with some medic in the template since day 1). I have received tells from people asking for wound healing, and unless I was busy with a guild activity, have always agreed. People just need to ask - most Docs/Medics will help you out.
Ialso currently play a toon with *no* medic ability. When I'm done hunting if I can't quickly find a Doc/Medic to heal my wounds I do the following:
- Go to a cantina and heal my BF
- Go to a med center
- Sit on a bed
- I type the following on the command line: /afk;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn;/pause 600;/yawn

Of course you could not spam everyone by just sending yourself a tell, or using an attack special or something to that effect. By doing this you won't get added to my ignore list for spamming. I realize that I can turn off AFK spam, but I shouldn't have to do so.
