And for those who don't ever see doctors in medlab, you should probably be happy. That means you can get the exp there.

One reason I stay out of medlabs mostly is because it steals exp from the medics who DO like it there. C and D wound packs can cure over 10 times what the A's can and Wound treatment speed means doctors can heal twice as often. If someone pops off a 300 point heal on your patient every 12 seconds, you are out all that exp.

Honestly, I would RATHER be in the field with a group.

i said he was playing it wrong...which in a sense he was...

I never said he "was wrong" for staying in the med center...

Come on if I was a master brawler and picked up a pistol and shot it for a day and said man the markman tree sucks cuz i dont do anything with this CDEF pistol...wouldnt u think I was maybe playing my character incorrectly?

Nah E, I'd just call you a n00b

Seriously though, when I started Medic I didn't take any combat related skills at all, so I stayed within city-limits and just sampled for resources to grind through the OC branch to get the B Meds.

Then I parked my behind in the medcenter to get xp, occassionally venturing out if my PA members needed me. But I enjoyed the atmosphere in the medcenter at the time, and the xp gains were slow, but steady.

Now as a Doc, I find more enjoyment in the field. I've got enough marksman to get by, and my heals pack a nice punch.

But if I were starting out brand new again, I'd do the same thing...Does that means it's playing it 'wrong'? No, just means I'm playing it 'different'

Now if all I did was pick up a stim, heal someone, and then say 'this sucks!' then that doesn't mean I'm 'wrong'. Just means i'm an idiot

Heyas Akmet!

On occassion I stop by the medcenter, see if there are any critically wounded and, if not, i'll head off to find something else to do.

And, every now and then, I'll unload some free B-Meds to the medics if I have any available.

It's the friendliness of the hospital that got me in there as a medic. It's the XP gains in the field that got me out.

And Elenora, hope you know I was just kidding with that n00b comment

You are saying that a medic will be able to heal out side of the Med center better? You can only use the Action and Health Packs in the med center or campsite right. So a Medic can heal like 10x faster in a camp?

That can't be right .... However I will try it in lieu of the med center tonight. You can most like heal fater with the skills you have advanced. I however am not a full time medic. I haven't spent a lot of time grinding there.

I stoped by the med center and there was no one there that could heal. Only me. So I grinded. I'm not "pissed" about the credits, or the time I spent last night. I wasn;t expecting alot of credits I knew I would waste some time. But wow I didn't expect that kind of time. I was testing the field. Selling food and drink and healing some people instead of what I normally do. So I'm just dissapointed that it didn't go better and makes me second think about doing it on a consistant basis.

endquote:

Now, I don't want to come across as some kind of jerk, but that's not what was said. What was given is very sound advice and it has to do with efficency in using both your mind pool and the resources that go into making your meds.

For the purposes of this post, let's make sure we understand that wounds are black parts on the HAM bars, and damage is the white sections. Any capitalization would be for emphasis, not me yelling or raving about something...

That said, a Doctor is much, much more efficient than a medic at treating wounds. So much more efficient that there is practically no comparison. If the numbers I've heard are correct, a doctor can treat about 600 wounds every 13 seconds. Compare that to my own 10 to 15 wounds every 25 seconds, or until my mind pool regens enough to do so. For me, wound treatment is a total waste of time and resources.

For the aspiring medic, it's a much more efficient use of both the resources they use to make their meds and their mind pool to load up on stimpacks and go out and treat DAMAGE in the field than to stay at the med center and treat WOUNDS. Myself, I don't touch wounds except during hunting parties and only when encamped and if the other party members don't mind the delay, I don't bother to use meds, only /tendwound, as the amount of healing and MXP from wound healing is so small for me that it's a waste of the resources in the medications to use them for wound healing. Over the last 3 days I've managed to rev myself about 3/4 of the way to Master Medic from Novice and have only visited medical centers to seek training, the rest has all been treating various types of damage outside of the med center. And all of this while running missions to finance buying my medical supplies, so yes I stretch my meds as far as I possibly can. IMO there is plenty of time that I'll spend as an aspiring doctor in the med center, once I get the skills to make wound treatment efficient enough on a time and materials basis to be worth doing.

honestly id stay in the med center more if there were more people to heal...

i usually spend my time crafting at my house next to my factory...

but when i do run into town i will always go to the med center to heal the really bad cases...if more traffic came into my med center I'd stay longer...but im working on crafting xp now and need to stay by my factory

I dont know if this was already said in this post.... Read half of it and decided this must go up. It is not that bad of a thing to have a medic in a medic center trying to heal wounds...The key is though that after you heal each wound use ur stim pack on it right then and get a lil more xp...also do this to anyone being healed by a doctor, im sure he wont mind u using some of your stims to get a lil xp.

Remember, wound downtime is diffrent from ur stim downtime.

To answer the original post (after all this), healing time is only "ridiculously long" because you're a newbie.

Ahigh-level doctor can single-handedly heal several hundred wound points every 13 seconds. A patient with a fully black HAM can be out of there in minutes. As the servers age, the healing time gets less because there are more doctors with medpack C+. Then again, they might start asking for more payment because they don't need the XP.

heh, Rick...I actually told a medic once 'quick! stim him! get some xp!' after I used a C-Woundpack on someone... Guess it hadn't occurred to that medic to use a stimpack on the 200-300 damage heal he had available after I healed the wounds

I stayed in the med center trying to heal wounds the first few days I was a medic. Then I went Tusken hunting with a group of 12. Now I try to stay in the field as much as I can, because there's a lot more action and really, healing damage is a lot faster way of picking up med XP than trying to heal wounds as a medic. Elanora is right: medics are designed to heal damage, not wounds, and though there isn't anything wrong with trying to heal wounds as a medic, if you become frustrated, it's your fault for trying to use your skills in ways they weren't meant to be used.

As a Medic/Marksman I split my time 50/50 between the Med Center and the field. I think it depends on your server for the attitudes of the players, but I like hanging with Texxie, Trassk, Aurchanjel and... and.. dammit, I forgot the name of my favorite Trandoshan who slipped me2,000 credits and a bunch ofWound Bs when I was starting out.

Watching 2doctor's and 2 medics work in tandem on patients is something to see. Nobody (exceptus medical types)seems to hang out very long in the Med Center in Tyrena, Corellia, butit is fun to hang out there because of the great personalities of theDoctors and Medics.

I like working in the Med Center when I need to do some crafting. Boot up the crafting station and make meds while getting xp from healing wounds.
