Thread: Good Medic, Bad Medic ...
Medics are currently one of the fastest XP gaining professions (if not the fastest) in the game.
There are probably more master doctors per number of doctor players than any other profession.
Honestly, the last thing we need is more xp... and any mission terminal will probably yeild less XP than we could get by healing normally anyway.
Not that i'm against their creation in any way, but people will more than likely be dissapointed with te rsults... I doubt the devs will create a NPC with 4000 assorted wounds for you and pay your 2000 cr. to heal them. Nobody would ever heal other players.
So the only misions you might get in a med terminal, would be missions you all would not like. lol
Teamwork is great, so I'm hoping the at some point they make it possible for Medics to group and share XP.
Personally I am not to warm on theMedical Mission idea. If I really wanted to make lots of money I would have chosen a different skill set. When I get bored ofr the Med center I "take it to the streets". I have grown rather fond of making my own M.A.S.H. unit. With my droid I can travel through the wilds and treat patients in the field. I have enough scouting to make camps so I can regen my mind pool faster while I treat wounds and damage. I find most people see my tag, or my Droids name and get the idea and come over for a heal. Its a fun break from the med center and it also allows you to learn more about your regular patients by witnessing some of their battles first hand. I think a little creativity canmake Medic healing very exciting.

As for the medical missions...I see them as a good thing. It can be seen as a good way for a starter medic to get some creds while at the same time earning xp and learning a bit about the profession. Will most of the higher level docs not run them? Probably. But at least they'd be there for the low-level, just starting out, players.
On the idea of grouping within the Med Center/Hospital...I'd STILL like to see this happen. It would make things much more fun..like the early days of Beta2
Yeah, I think the overall point is that if your sitting in a med center getting your wounds healed, you would rather have them healed by a master doc than a novice medic simply because of the reduction of downtime.
Medic missions would be a good thing because you dont need to compete for heals with people of higher experiance, and you also get some money on the side.
It also adds some competition for the players who require healing but dont tip, at least then they know that medics have an option to get xp elsewhere and if no one tips, then all the medics would be out doing medic missions.
you all should check out the bestine med centre and talk to one of the npc's there.
i willnot spoil this and not include his name, you gotta find out for yourself.
Traigus hit the nail on the head there with the leveling and exp issue, but i do think that medical missions are some form of content that is currently (mostly) missing and adds some diversity to the (now taken away) Tusken Camp grind or the Medcentre waiting or endles LFG because most people prefer soloing.
I spend a lot of time on these boards laughing at the Medics who bring up issues with Wound healing over and over again. It seems the biggest problems and discussions in the Medic forum revolve around wound healing, WHICH MEDICS ABSOLUTELY SUCK AT!
You guys do realize that you can make XP about 10x faster by healing regular injuries like your class was designed to do, right?

I have to agree that it's much more polite and civil to talk to your patient first, before rushing up to heal him. First, it allows you to ask him how bad any particular wound is, so you can select the best power woundpack with which to heal. Second, you can see if the guy wandered in and went AFK (and he'll wander out AFK without paying). Third, it tells me if the person needs or even wants my help -- perhaps his PA has a medic, perhaps he's a medic himself. Fourth, there may already be a medic helping. And last, most of the people in the med center want to talk about what happened to them! Ask them what hit them. Many combat people I encounter are happy to give me war stories about the awful critters that jumped them on Dathomir, say, or on Yavin. It helps pass the time. It's social. And yes, because of the personal contact, it often gets me a better tip, but that's a side bonus.
Hyena heals? Are you serious? The people who show up and heal the major wounds, generally, are doctors. That's what doctors do. They perform the surgery... the nurses change the sterile dressings. The doctors remove a tumor, or repair a ruptured spleen, or reattach a severed hand... the nurses hook up IV fluid and pass out cups full of medication. Doctors operate, nurses tend. What's the trouble here?
Yes, I am a novice doctor, but I'll consult with medics in the area to "top off" tiny margins of health or action, because even my advanced pack Bs are complete overkill.
I'd also like to see grouping, but then what do you do when aTKA/Novice Medic walks in and wants in the group to get free XP while other people heal and use up their expensive medpacks? How much group XP should that really be worth?
FISH
I don't think I am a "hyena healer." I do stop healing patients in the middle of the process of healing if they fail to respond to me. I try to roleplay with them but they stop talking and go AFK. If they tell me they are going AFK, then I'll continue healing them but most of the time, they just leave without saying a word except "I need a medic."
This will make me stop healing them. If you aren't prepared to spend a few minutes talking, then I can't be bothered to spend a few minutes healing you up. There are other people waiting who will be nicer and talk to their medics.
I don't mind wasting a Woundpack B on 20 stat wounds, because getting the resources takes what...10 minutes? It's not that much really. I don't mind that...but I do mind if you go away while I'm healing you. It only takes me about 2 minutes to heal you with my Doctor medicines.
Dang, I guess I'm a hyena healer.
I'm a combat medic but I don't hang out in med centers. Only time I go in there is when I have wounds I don't feel like healing, which is actually pretty often(I tip, so flame away). If my friends need wound healing, well I have a droid for that. I don't need to go to the med center.
While I'm in there, I might have 3 charges left on a medpack B I want to use up so I throw heals at 3 random people. Or I might throw a couple on some guy with really black bars to help him get out of there faster. Then I'm up and out and back on my way!!
Now you tell me that you don't like when I do that? I don't ask for tips. I just do it. And I couldn't give half a rat's behind whose patient it is.
I thought we were medics to help people, not to divvy up the wounds and hoarde them and whine. You say you don't like medics who see people as XP. I don't like medics who see people as wounds or tips.
I learned a lot about healing etiquette from this thread...
It's true; I'm also disappointed when my patients won't make idle chit chat for thetwo minutes it takes to heal them. I like to ask "Hey... how'd that happen?" Hopefully they'll tell a good story and I'll learn something or, better yet, I'llwant to go where they went and try what they tried (probably die and come back as a beat up clone the way they did, too.) Sometimes, the ones who DO talk invite you along, andI enjoy healing people in camps a little more than in med centers. It's just cooler to me.
And nothing's better than healing someone who wentafk, then 45 minutes pass and they /tell you, "Hey... you healed me!" andproceed tosend you bank credits.
That's always nice.
