TO ALL INDEPENDENT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ACROSS TATOOINE

After my experiences working in the Medical Centers of Bestine and Mos Eisley since game launch, it appears to me that the medics of this planet would benefit greatly from a more organized structure through which to advance our profession.

I propose forming the Tatooine Medical Alliance as an informal, information-based alliance of medical professionals from all across the planet of Tatooine. Through this organization, the members can help each other and the profession advance by grouping together to share information on needed resources, medications, matching trainees with trainers, organizing groups of medics for special events, expeditions, and medical emergencies. This would also serve as a helpful outlet for new novice medics to get started in the profession and become as productive as they can be. Given the violent nature of everyday life on our planet, the medical profession is frequently in high demand by adventurers of all kinds. This informal alliance, I believe, would aid us medical professionals to better serve our communities. I propose that we keep this alliance at a neutral stance with any faction in the ongoing Galactic Civil War so as to be able to better serve those who get caught in the crossfire. I'm sure the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire are more than capable of organizing their own medics.

I am currently based in Mos Eisley and will help to organize the TMA in that community. I would ask that anyone willing to help organize the TMA in the other communities across the planet post that here so as to give others a point of contact. No membership rosters need be kept nor should we get involved in the ongoing debate on requiring payments from patients. I believe these matters are best handled by the medics themselvesin their own way and in their own communities. We should function as an information based organization until such time as the members chose to change the nature of things. It is possible that, should things go well for us all, that the TMA could organize into a more formal PA and affiliate ourselves with other like minded organizations across the galaxy.

For the time being, however, I propose setting up a special chat room titled 'TMA' for all of us to communicate on and for one channel to be setup for each community (Mos Eisley, Bestine, etc). We could also setup a seperate 'TMA' channel for the planet as a whole to pass along information between the communities. Let us use this thread to post new information regarding the TMA and to discuss ideas and ongoing events. I will establish a 'TMA' chat room for Mos Eisley later this evening and will help to organize the medics in that community. I ask for volunteers from other communities to step forward and post their intentions to organize in their communities here on this thread. I look forward to working with you all and seeing our profession grow and prosper.

The fact that no one has responded to this so far leads me to believe that either no one is interested in this idea or that none of the medics from Bria read this thread. I know that can't be the fact so I would then like to reiterate how much good this kind of idea could be for our profession. It doesn't require any more work on anyone's part other than just monitoring and new chat window. This will prove invaluable down the road as most of us advance into Elite Professions. This can be used to match teachers with students, to pass along info on resources and needed medicines, to organize medics in a certain area for events or crisis'.

Think about folks and tell us your thoughts.

I don't know how much organization medics really need. Last night (on Bria) down in Moenia, Naboo, I got tipped well over 3,000 credits by patients after I'd healed them. Considering how few master medics and doctors there will likely be over time, I don't know if organization is really useful. We'll see, I guess, but this early on, when the economy hasn't even stabilized yet, who knows?

The point of organizing as I have suggested is not about the money making aspect of the profession. It's the dispersal of information and in aiding our fellow medics. How many times have you run around town looking for someone to teach you a new skill? How often have you asked around for someone who could make B-class Woundpacks? That's the point of all this. It's the coordiation and information disemination that makes an alliance like this so beneficial. We can use these kinds of organizations to better run our Medical Centers through coordination, to help hunting parties find field medics to accompany them on their trip an to help everyone get the equipment and supplies they need. Who knows when the next large Imperial assault on Anchorhead will be? A system like this can coordinate medics from around the planet to help with the wounded and crtically injured. Plus with enough people in the system, we can coordinate with other professionals in different fields such as crafters, designers, entertainers, scouts, etc to provide critically needed support at critical times.

That's the point of organizing in this fashion. It's not an economic alliance; those types of issues are best settled locally. An organization such as this could actually help bolster our fledgling economy in many ways, if you think about it.

Heya Fi'ak,

Just ran into your post and had to 100% agree. Good to see you out-of-game as well as in.

You were a great asset to use medics last night in Mos Eisley.

I think this is a good idea, it will make it easier for lower medics to find training too.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. I think the best thing we can all do for now is to continue to spread the word of this alliance to other medical professionals across the planet. Get these folks to start monitoring the chat channel to help keep it open. If you login and can't happen to find the channel, just start it back up again. Hopefully over the next few days and weeks we will regularly have several medics and doctors across the planet monitoring and participating on the channel to aid others and pass along needed information.

If anyone has any further ideas about the TMA, please post them here for us all to discuss. Let's also try to use this thread to pass along important information that we can glean out to others offline as well.

Thanks Vaccinate!

I really enjoyed working with everyone in the MC last night. I won't be on much the next few nights if at all. So perhaps you could help the others spread the word and keep the TMA window open ingame. The more folks we can get onboard, the more useful this alliance will be. It will take some time for it to really begin to become effective, i know, but the sooner we start, the sooner it will pay off.

Thanks again to you and all the medics who worked there last night. Next time we get together, we'll try to streamline that system even more.

I'm trying to organize a Seminar/Meeting of the Tatooine Medical Alliance at the Theatre building in Mos Eisley this weekend. I've started a new thread about it on the Bria forum so that more folks from Bria can read about it. Refer all posts and ideas on the meeting to that thread.
