Hi all

Unless I've really missed something, nothing like a physician's guild exists on Tatooine in Ahazi. I'm interested in creating one to further the interests of the medical professions there. I don't really know how this works, but would welcome all interested medical professionals.

Benefits of working together could be huge:
- Standardization of tip rates
- Refusal of service to non-paying individuals
- Sharing of knowledge and experience
- Sharing of resources and resource-construction facilities
- A chance to interact with others in the medical professions

My name in Ahazi is Eseck Melat, currently working out of Mos Epsa. /tell me if you're interested and we can work something out.

Hi Valkyryn,
Have you considered starting an Inter-Galactic Health Association chapter on Ahazi? Visit our website at http://plasticboy.com/igha/ and talk to us on our forums if you're interested.

I'm a medic in Mos Eisley on Ahazi. People tip really well there. Of course it isn't everyone... but most people tip 200-500. This pays for my stimpacks.... and i'm getting good experience healing wounds. Forcing people to buy heals seems a tad greedy to me, and my bank account hasn't gotten so low that I would even consider this.

I don't know about Mos Espa, but there are constantly missions going out of Eisley... and you can make some credits going on those... plus meet people who can build armor / equipment ... plus get healing experience.

I really don't see the need for this, and if it came together... I would never join, as I'm sure many other medics I have met wouldn't either. Make your union... will mean more healing experiencefor me... and probably more tips in the long run.

Why are you opposed to organization, Elanora?

Because your first 2 points are about money...

its always about money...

I was one of the first doctors on ahazi and i managed to network with other doctors and medical professionals without the use of a organization. I just went out and socialized...

I currently share training costs with a few people I have been palying with since day 1. I also split the cost of a small house and its maintance for a crafting station. We where gonna split a factory as well, butfound that only the owner of the factory gets teh craftingxp from parts made there, so we scrapped that idea..

The fact is you can do all this without a organization...

To me it sounds like its all about money..how to corner the marketon heals..how to blacklistcheap players into paying...

Sharing knowledge training andresources is fine..but if u wanna organize to make money i think its wrong..

Butyou can play as you would like to play...so if u'd like to organize thats fine thats your right..I for one wont join an organization that will create some system to force people to pay or blacklist non-payers...

If you do form it and i hear that people on tatt are getting frustrated with ur monopoly on healing, i'd gladlyfly out to the cities of tatt for afew hrs a day and heal people for free...

seriously just sounds like some1 to monopolize the medical field for riches to me...

Okay, maybe I'll answer my own question. All of you who have already made it as physicians will probably find this redudant, obvious, and/or boring, but for those of you (us) that haven't, it might be worth a read.

I've done some more reading myself, and it seems that the solution to making it as a physician isn't unionization, but privatization. I'm starting to see that most people view city medical centers like free clinics. The people who come in are viewed as doing as much of a service to the medics as vice versa. This is something of a problem as the only physicans desperate enough to put up with this are low-skill medics, who can't deal with wounds effectively. Doctors - both Novice and Master - only go to the med centers when they feel like it, because they can make enough money on their own out of town.

Several people have mentioned setting up their own facilities out of town. I'm not nearly affluent enough to afford this, but camps and droids should work until I am.

I think I'd still like to be part of a player association, but that's just personal preference.

Houses dont give healing bonuses..

some camps do depending on the level.

Droid help a bit...

Med center gives major healing bonuses...

As long as people are healing for free in the med center, most people will continue to go to the med center for healing.Â

I for one will usually be in a med center with my surgery droid crafting and wiating for patients

There's a good story to be had in the formation and breaking of a medical cartel, don't you think? I'm sure the engine is robust enough for that kind of thing...

I do see your points though Elanora. But I'm less concerned about striking it fantastically rich as I am with the fact that I occasionally find myself driven into the bushes to find more componants. It just doesn't seem right, somehow. And probably isn't. And I'm sure I'll learn how not to have to do this in a day or so. Till then it's a bit frustrating though.

I'm just sorry to say it, but if you picked a class to get rich in...you picked the wrong one...

You should have gone architect...

Medics/Doctors will never be rich from healing

They may get rich from selling medicines (unlikely considering that we are screwed unlike other crafters in that the better packs we make, the smaller the customer base that can use them) or selling resources (which means makingmoney as an artisan not a medic)

The economy just doesnt work for the medical classes...best come to that conclusion now and give up the idea of getting rich or even breaking even as medical professional on healing alone.

This is why you will soon see less and less medics around...im talking medical professionals and not those with secondary medical skills...

no one said you had to get ur own resources...you can just ignore doc crafting and buy medicines instead...

If u are interested in getting master tho you gotta put in the leg work to do it...

crafting isnt easy for anyone..its especially hard for CM/Doc templates since they have to get so many different types of resources and the survey line isnt even in our tree meaning that we have to waste 15 skill points to get novice artisan, unlike other crafters who are artisans to start with and dont need to get novice medic in order for them to craft...

It would seem then, that if the developers really want the elite medical professions to be an essential part of the game that the system needs a bit of tweaking. Because I can understand a lot of people not being willing to pay for healing and willing to wait for novice medics (themselves or others) to heal them. I'm not demanding that they change the system to suit me though: I haven't really figured out how to efficiently be a medic yet, and spent my first time in the field last night. I can see myself becoming content with novice doctor and adding some other crafting skills which are more viable.

I respect and appreciate the intentions of the developers in making medics a necessary profession, unlike some other games I can think of. But from what I can see now, it doesn't look like it's going to work as well as planned, assumming I understand the plan (which is, admittedly, a bit of an assumption).

Re: resources: I agree that buying is the way to go, and I do it as often as I can. The problem I'm running into is that in order to be able to buy resources, I need tips.

run missions...its the way that most people make money...

I make 50k if i just do destroys for 4 hrs...now that you can store 10 destroy missions in a droid, i have a feeling that i can shave a good hour or so off that time...

thats how i pay for my factory, harvesters, med droids, house, and extensive wardrobe...

after all if you gonna heal, at least look cute and sexy doing it...

i learn this from the entertainers ...Id heal in my undies but the clothes i have now are much sexier

After my experiences trying to set up unions, I decided people (including me) like to do their own thing, because unionizing seems way more hassle than it's worth. The union worked in beta since we were trying to communicate issues to the dev team, but after release there's just not much to talk about. If you were going to share resources/training with people around your hometown, you'd already be doing so - and many are. And as to the price-setting...good theory, doesn't happen in practice =P
